Horse Racing Tips on Friday, August 26
There are five meetings spread across Britain on Friday, August 26th with the action coming from Thirsk, Newmarket, Ffos Las, Hamilton and Goodwood. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Friday Lucky 15.
Piastrella (2.00 Newmarket) – 13/2
The Jenningsbet Fillies’ Handicap takes place at Newmarket on Friday, and Nigel Tinkler’s PIASTRELLA rates the one to beat.
This daughter of Awtaad was twice a Beverley novice winner last season, and she deservedly got her head in front at York on penultimate outing, staying on under hands and heels riding to run out a comfortable length and a quarter winner.
Piastrella couldn’t quite match that at Ripon last time, but that performance might be worth upgrading as she just lacked a turn of foot in a race where the front two didn’t come back to the field.
Dropping back to 7f on a stiffer track may well work the oracle for Piastrella, and she handled soft ground as a juvenile, so this surface isn’t expected to inconvenience her.

Friday Lucky 15 Tips. Nigel Tinkler holds live claims of success at Newmarket with Piastrella.
Air To Air (3.30 Thirsk) – 7/2
The Anderson Barrowcliff Chartered Accountants Handicap is the feature race at Thirsk on Friday, and although he has topweight to contend with the classy AIR TO AIR rates the one they’ve got to beat.
George Boughey’s charge is yet to go off a double-figure price in his 13-race career to date, despite contesting races like the Britannia Stakes and the International Stakes.
Air To Air could only muster midfield in the latter on his penultimate run, yet he didn’t get the smoothest of runs down the stands rail so the performance can be forgiven.
This gelding put up an improved showing when runner-up at Doncaster just under a fortnight ago, finishing a neck behind the bang in form The Attorney, the front two pulling 4l clear of the remainder. 7lb claimer Taylor Fisher was entrusted with the ride there, but Sam James now takes over in the saddle and a mark of 95 is almost certainly still within Air To Air’s reach.
Rum Going On (3.52 Ffos Las) – 7/4
John Quinn is still riding the wave of his Nunthorpe success, and a week after Highfield Princess’s victory the Yorkshire handler can strike in the Honeywell Home By Resideo Handicap at Ffos Las with RUM GOING ON.
This 3yo was an impressive Musselburgh winner back in April and he’s held his form since then without managing to add to his tally.
Rum Going On was a little below his best when fourth at Musselburgh last time out, yet he didn’t get the smoothest of runs there and was ultimately only beaten two and a half lengths.
Rum Going On gets in here off the same mark of 60, but top claimer Harry Davies now removes a handy 3lb and he’s been freshened up since that last run.

Friday Lucky 15 Tips. Recent Nunthorpe winner John Quinn can strike on Ffos Las’s Friday card with Rum Going On.
Chairmanoftheboard (4.25 Ffos Las) – 9/2
The Adey Magnaclean Handicap looks like a perfect opportunity for CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD to get back to winning ways.
Mick Channon’s charge finished a 33/1 third in a competitive Newmarket handicap back in April, and although not quite at that level in three subsequent starts, he shaped with a little more promise when third at Ripon earlier this month.
This track should suit Chairmanoftheboard better than Ripon, and he’s now back down to his last winning mark, with this just his second start at Class 3 level since that victory. The Channon stable is in particularly good form at present and Chairmanoftheboard can keep this run going with victory on Friday.
