Friday’s 4,336/1 Lucky 15 – Our UK Racing Best Bets On August 5
Horse Racing Tips on Friday, August 5
There are five meetings spread across Britain on Friday, August 5th with the action coming from Brighton, Musselburgh, Thirsk, Haydock and Newmarket. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Thursday Lucky 15.
Iron Sheriff (1.40 Musselburgh) 13/2
Musselburgh’s Champagne Pommery Rose Magnum Handicap kicks off the Friday card, and whilst a few of these arrive on the back of good recent runs, it is IRON SHERIFF that is taken to land the spoils.
Roger Fell’s charge hasn’t been beaten far the last twice, building on a Redcar third (when encountering trouble in running) to go one spot better at Newcastle thirteen days ago. Coming with a strong run to ultimately finish less than a length off of the winner.
Iron Sheriff’s been put up 2lb for that but given that the front two were over 4l clear of the remainder of the field, that may underestimate him, and Jonny Peate keeps the partnership intact.

Haizoom (2.40 Musselburgh) 5/1
The So Stobo Platinum Jubilee Handicap might just provide HAIZOOM with a good chance to get back in the winner’s enclosure.
Keith Dalgleish’s filly didn’t quite appear to see out the 2m2f trip at Pontefract on penultimate run, travelling well through her race but finding little for pressure, and she was better than the bare result at Hamilton last time, where she was denied a clear run and forced to switch, staying on as though she would have almost certainly finished closer with better luck in running.
This extra furlong will suit Haizoom, and she goes particularly well here at Musselburgh, where her form figures currently read 213, those efforts coming at odds of 9/4, 8/1 and 8/1. So punters shouldn’t be put off if she is a little bigger in the market than they’d have expected.

Hot Hot Hot (4.25 Brighton) 5/1
Brighton’s Friday card concludes with the Star Sports Celebrating Brighton Pride! Handicap, a race where HOT HOT HOT is backed to return to winning ways.
Tony Carroll’s mare was notching her first turf win at the fifteenth attempt when landing a 6f handicap here on penultimate run. Coming with a late rattle to ultimately run out a fairly cosy winner.
The drop back to 5f didn’t suit at Bath last time, but Hot Hot Hot shaped with plenty of promise there and the return to Brighton, a track which tends to favour runners coming from off the pace, is an obvious plus.
Having won off as high as 52 in the past, a rating of 49 is clearly not beyond Hot Hot Hot, and it’s worth noting that her trainer Tony Carroll has landed two of the last five renewals of this race.

Red Bond (4.40 Musselburgh) 15/2
Musselburgh’s card closing Champagne Pommery Cuvee Louise Handicap might be a good opportunity to catch RED BOND, who, although on a very long losing run, has become very well treated on the pick of his form and recent efforts suggest he might be back winning sooner rather than later.
This Middleham Park-owned 6yo was rated 92 after bolting up in a Newcastle handicap back in January 2020. He’s 0-21 since then but has put up some good efforts in defeat this year, returning from a break with a solid third at Ayr in June.
He’s 2lb lower here and hasn’t had many chances over this 1m4f trip (seemed to stay on his only previous attempt), so if the addition of first-time cheekpieces manages to unlock even a small amount of improvement here, then Red Bond can be backed to at least go close.
