Friday’s 8,917/1 Lucky 15 – Our UK Racing Best Bets On January 21
Horse Racing Tips on Friday, January 21
There are four meetings spread across Britain on Friday, January 21st with the action coming from Southwell, Market Rasen, Lingfield and Newcastle. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Friday Lucky 15.
Legends Ryde (1.20 Lingfield)
Although she did have somewhat of an inconsistent profile over hurdles, LEGENDS RYDE seems to have found consistency since switched to the larger obstacles, and she rates a solid play in Lingfield’s Winter Million EBF Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Chase.
This 7yo made a winning chase debut at Ffos Las in October when looking a fair bit better than her then 118 rating.
She was then pitched into a competitive graduation chase at Ascot, and belied 18/1 odds to finish second to L’Homme Presse, who is now rated 18lb higher over fences.
Returning to handicaps against her own sex off an untouched mark looks potentially lenient on that evidence, and these testing ground conditions should bring her proven stamina into play.

One True King (1.50 Lingfield)
The racehorselotto.com Handicap Chase looks a good opportunity for ONE TRUE KING to notch another win over fences.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ charge had some useful form to his name over hurdles last season yet he actually posted his career best RPR over fences, namely when justifying favouritism at Sandown on his penultimate outing.
One True King could only muster fourth at Ascot subsequently, yet that form has worked out very well since with the winner now rated 17lb higher over fences and the runner-up looking set to score at Newbury earlier this week before taking a second-last fence tumble.
Despite this, One True King actually runs off a 2lb lower mark here, which is only 3lb above his Sandown winning rating, and it looks one that he is capable of capitalising upon.

Hacker Des Places (3.35 Lingfield)
Paul Nicholls sends the 5yo HACKER DES PLACES to Lingfield to contest their Sovereign Handicap Hurdle, and this French-bred gelding rates the one to side with.
Although beaten at prohibitive odds on stable debut at Wincanton back in October 2020, Hacker Des Places quickly attested to that with a 32l Wetherby victory just over two months later.
The son of Great Pretender clearly had his issues after that, not being seen for exactly a year before last month’s seasonal/handicap debut sixth at Kempton. He is entitled to come on a good deal for that outing, and the handicapper has somewhat kindly dropped Hacker Des Places 4lb since that last run.
With his Wetherby annihilation coming on similar ground to that which he is expected to face on Friday, this surface may bring out the best in him, and therefore at the prices he looks worth chancing.

Zhiguli (4.08 Lingfield)
Gary Moore is no stranger to training winners here at Lingfield and his ZHIGULI rates as the one to side with in the Winter Million Day 1’s concluding Winter Million Handicap Chase.
This 7yo was admittedly something of a fortuitous winner of an extended 2m7f handicap chase at this track in October, with him 3l down and looking held when left clear after the final fence.
Although only fourth in both subsequent outings those came in fairly competitive contests, the latest in a 0-150 Ascot handicap chase. This represents a significant drop in class from that assignment and with Zhiguli’s form figures in December and January currently reading 931214, this looks the time of year to catch him.
