Friday’s Daily Double – 23/1 at Fakenham and Southwell
Chris Loader rolls his two best bets into this Daily Double, covering races at Fakenham and Southwell on Friday 14th February.
For the millionth time it seems we found only half the recipe again with the Racing Tips Daily Double as the second leg Magic Lily won at Meydan, whilst the opening pick Vocaliser could only muster a third placed effort. I’m hoping we can find the secret ingredients today as my selections come from Fakenham & Southwell. Best odds available here with William Hill.

Friday’s Daily Double
Fakenham 3.50 – Dundrum Wood
Dundrum is set to make his handicap debut today for his trainer Olly Murphy. He was last seen in November when winning comfortably at Market Rasen and his mark of 120 looks workable. It’s also interesting that the son of Flemensfirth is stepping up in trip to three miles for the first time, but judging from his pedrigree that should be no problem as he’s distantly related to Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Jodami. Furthermore Murphy does very well at Fakenham yielding a 24% strike rate throughout his career. With Fergus Gregory booked claiming an extra 3lbs I expect the six-year-old to go close.
Southwell 7.45 – Royal Big Night
Royal Big Night has been holding his form of late this winter for Mark Johnson filling the frame on the all-weather. The four-year-old was last seen finishing fourth at Chelmsford and the winner went on to score at the venue again last night. That race was over further and the son of Distorted Humour drops back in trip to the mile. This looks a positive move as he was closed down in the final stages. Also Oliver Stammers claims a handy 7lbs and he’s going to be well treated at the weights. Despite never visiting Southwell I think he will be able to handle it through his American Breeding which normally tends to translate well to the fibresand. I believe he can make it a winning debut at the track.
