TREAD SWIFTLY finished runner-up on his debut over this course last month and the What A Winter colt could be capable of going one better here with the prospect of improvement on the back of that effort.
He was beaten around three lengths in that first run, but he should come on for the experience and this extra furlong should suit so every chance he can get off the mark at the second attempt.
11:25 – Durban View Restaurant Maiden Plate (3YO plus) 6f
TONIGHTSFIGHTNIGHT won on debut in a trial race at Scottsville back in January and stepped up on that outing to finish a good third next time at the same venue behind Captain’s Fort.
The Judpot gelding was taking on more experienced rivals on that occasion and he ought to have more improvement to offer on the back of that outing so could prove the answer to this contest.
12:00 – Track & Ball Gaming Maiden Plate (F & M) (3YO plus) 6f
QUE-TEE wasn’t disgraced on her debut at Scottsville last month, finishing fourth in a big field contest Brunilda and the Querari filly can step up on that experience to do better here.
Michael Miller’s charge was beaten around eight lengths, but she finished ahead of a subsequent winner and could progress further. Much less exposed than many of her rivals she can make her presence felt.
12:35 – Soccer Any15 Graduation Plate (3YO plus) 1m 1f
JOSEPH JAGGER has been in consistent form and is 2-2 on the all-weather at this venue.
The Ideal World gelding latterly beat Isikheto by a short-head here when last seen and although that form has taken a couple of knocks he could be worth sticking with on this surface where he can continue his good spell of form.
13:10 – Greyville Convention Centre Mr 87 Handicap (3YO plus) 6f
HIGH VOLTAGE hasn’t been in the best form recently but the Querari gelding could be worth chancing to bounce back returning to a shorter trip.
Duncan Howell’s charge was a winner here back in November over five furlongs, but he’s been running over further than this trip with mixed results although he found only one too good on his last foray onto this surface in February when beaten a length into the runner-up berth behind Calente.
First-time blinkers are tried now while he has the services of a claiming rider whose allowance could prove valuable. A return to this trip on this surface with headgear deployed could see a return to the winners’ enclosure.
13:50 – Follow Gold Circle On Facebook Fm 69 Handicap (F & M) (3YO plus) 6f
BRUNILDA is in good heart at present, finishing runner-up in recent starts at Scottsville and over course and distance prior to getting off the mark back at Scottsville latest with a defeat of Blanchetta.
Garth Puller’s charge had six lengths to spare on that occasion, scoring readily and the form has been boosted by the fifth winning since. There could be more to come from the Capetown Noir filly who struck up a good rapport with this rider last time and the pair can combine again to follow up here.
14:25 – Call Telebet Track & Ball Fixed Odds On 031 314 1155 Fm 66 Handicap (F & M) (3YO plus) 1m
PINA COLADA has hit the crossbar the last twice but the Kildonan mare can gain some reward for those near misses and get back on the scoresheet.
Gary Rich’s charge was beaten only a short-head on the turf course here on her penultimate start after which she was beaten just over one length latest behind Ms Rosa Parks over course and distance.
A subsequent winner has come out of that race and she can continue to give a good account despite not being ideally drawn here.
15:00 – Hollywoodbets Bright Future Maiden Plate (3YO plus) 1m
BACKPACKER found only one too good over course and distance last time out, beaten three lengths behind Let’s Blaze; but the Silvano colt can go one better here.
Garth Puller’s charge caught the eye with the way in which he went through that race where he looked a natural on the surface and he could have further improvement to come he might be worth keeping onside on the back of that success where he can follow up here.
