Horse racing fixtures 23-29 September – Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire Festival meeting the highlight of this week’s action
Brian Healy takes a look ahead to this week’s horse racing fixtures across the UK and Ireland which features the Cambridgeshire Festival at Newmarket.
After some classy and competitive horse racing action for the Ayr Gold Cup Festival meetings, a new week of UK and Irish racing gets underway on Monday, and with plenty to look forward to in the week ahead it is sure to be another cracking seven days with the Newmarket Cambridgeshire Meeting being the feature fixture of the week.
In addition to Saturday’s competitive handicap feature Cambridgeshire Handicap, there is also Group One action going to post on the day with both the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Middle Park Stakes.
Meanwhile, preceding days feature Group Two and Group Three action, including the Shadwell Joel and Shadwell Rockfel Stakes during a cracking three days’ racing at Flat HQ.
There is also Listed and Group Three action scattered across the midweek racecards; while at Ripon on Saturday it is City Of The Dales day at the Yorkshire track, and the competitive handicap is the feature of the day away from Newmarket.
The jumps highlight of the week meanwhile comes from Market Rasen on Saturday where the Listed Prelude Hurdle takes place; while on Sunday the Group Two Beresford Stakes goes to post at the Curragh.
MONDAY 23 SEPTEMBER
The new week kicks off with a schedule of horse racing action which takes in five UK and Irish meetings, and the day’s flat racing comes from the cards at Leicester and Hamilton, while Warwick are racing over the sticks.
There is also a late afternoon flat racing card in Ireland at Fairyhouse where there is Listed action on the card with the Blenheim Stakes; while on the all-weather in the evening there is also racing on the Kempton polytrack.

Four UK and Irish horse racing fixtures go to post on Tuesday, with afternoon action on the flat from Lingfield on polytrack, and also Beverley on turf; while Chelmsford also hosts an evening fixture on their all-weather surface.
Meanwhile, over the sticks there is a fixture at Warwick to complete the Tuesday line-up.

Meanwhile, there is also jumps racing from Perth, and also Sligo in Ireland.
Completing Wednesday’s fixture list is a pair of evening all-weather fixtures with action at both Newcastle and Kempton.

Six meetings go to post across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, and day one of the Cambridgeshire Festival meeting goes to post at Newmarket where the Group Three Somerville Tattersalls Stakes is the feature race of the day at Flat HQ.
There is also afternoon flat racing from Pontefract, and also from Gowran Park in Ireland which hosts a rearranged fixture that was lost last weekend; while Perth are racing over the sticks.
Meanwhile, in the evening there is all-weather action with racing on the Southwell fibresand as well as from Chelmsford’s polytrack surface.

Six UK and Irish horse racing meetings head to post across Friday’s fixture list with day two of the Cambridgeshire Festival spearheading the day’s action where the Group Two Shadwell Joel and the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes are the deature races of the day at Flat HQ.
There is also flat racing from Haydock on Friday, as well as jumping from Worcester and also Downpatrick in Ireland.
Friday’s all-weather racing action meanwhile comes from Newcastle on tapeta, and also Dundalk in Ireland on polytrack where the Group Three Diamond Stakes goes to post.

A fixture list of eight UK and Irish horse racing meetings awaits punters on Saturday, where it is Cambridgeshire Handicap day at Newmarket at the three-day Cambridgeshire Festival meeting draws to a close with a top-class racecard which features two Group One contests with the Cheveley Park Stakes and Middle Park Stakes both on the agenda alongside the hugely competitive feature handicap.
Elsewhere, there is further flat racing action in the afternoon from Haydock, Chester and Ripon where the City Of The Dales Handicap takes centre stage at the Yorkshire venue.
There is also flat racing action in Ireland from the Curragh which features Group Three action on the racecard.
Saturday’s afternoon jumps racing meanwhile sees the Listed Prelude Hurdle headline Market Rasen’s card over the sticks, while Navan in Ireland are also racing over obstacles.
An evening fixture under the floodlights at Chelmsford on their polytrack surface completes a busy afternoon of racing action.
