Horse racing fixtures 8-14 July – Details of all this week’s UK and Irish race-meetings over the next seven days

Brian Healy takes a day-by-day look ahead to the coming week’s UK and Irish horse racing fixtures and details every meeting going to post.

More top class horse racing action goes to post this week with the three-day July Festival meeting taking centre stage at Newmarket where the Group One July Cup dominates a quality fixture on the July Course.

Getting underway from Thursday, other feature races include Thursday’s Group Two pairing of the July Stakes and the Tattersalls Stakes; while Friday’s card at Flat HQ includes the Group One Falmouth Stakes.

There is also Group Two action at Ascot on Saturday, while it is also John Smiths Day at York. Listed action also goes to post throughout the week, and Sunday rounds off with a Group Three contest in Ireland so there is plenty for punters to look forward to.


The week kicks off with a five-fixture meeting of UK and Irish horse racing action, and the afternoon’s action comes from Ayr on the flat, and from Worcester over the sticks.

In the evening, Windsor and Ripon both host meetings on the flat, while Roscommon in Ireland also race on the level where there is Listed action on their card with the Lenebane Stakes going to post.

Five more UK and Irish horse racing meetings will head to post on Tuesday, with the afternoon’s action on the flat coming from the cards at Wolverhampton on the all-weather, and Pontefract on turf where there is Listed action on the card with the Pipalong Stakes.

In the evening there is further flat racing on the card from Brighton, while Uttoxeter and Roscommon in Ireland are both racing over the sticks.

Wednesday plays host to another five UK and Irish horse racing fixtures with afternoon flat racing from the cards at Catterick, Yarmouth and Lingfield on turf.

Meanwhile, the evening action comes courtesy of Kempton’s all-weather fixture, as well as a meeting on turf from Bath.

Thursday’s fixture list of UK and Irish horse racing action takes in six meetings, headed by the start of the three-day July Festival meeting at Newmarket on their July Course where top-class racing action is fronted on day one by the Group Two July Stakes and Group Two Tattersalls Stakes on a quality seven-race card.

There is also flat racing action going to post at Doncaster and Carlisle on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is further flat racing taking place at Newbury and Epsom, as well as from Leopardstown in Ireland where the Group Three Stanerra Stakes takes place.

Friday sees seven UK and Irish horse racing meetings going to post, with the second day of the Newmarket July Festival meeting taking centre stage.

The feature race of the day is the Group One Falmouth Stakes, which is joined on the card by the Group Two Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes on another quality seven-race card.

There is also Group Three action on the card at York on Friday, where the Summer Stakes dominates the afternoon action on the Knavesmire; while Ascot is also racing on Friday afternoon.

In the evening there are further flat racing fixtures from Chestow and Chester, while jumps racing comes from the meetings at Ffos Las and also Cork in Ireland.

A bumper crop of nine UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Saturday, with the third day of the Newmarket July Festival spearheaded by the Group One July Cup on a seven-race card that also includes the Group Two Superlative Stakes.

There is also Group Two action on the racecard at Ascot with the Summer Mile Stakes, while the competitive John Smith’s Cup spearheads a competitive fixture at York.

Not to be outdone, the Listed City Plate and the competitive MBNA Handicap are on the agenda at Chester; while Navan in Ireland are also racing on the level.

Meanwhile, the Saturday afternoon jumps racing action comes from the cards at Newton Abbot, and also from Limerick in Ireland.

Completing Saturday’s fixture list of racing action are evening meetings from Salisbury and Hamilton.

Four UK and Irish horse racing meetings close out the week’s action, and there is plenty for jumps racing fans to look forward to with meetings from Perth and Stratford, as well as Sligo in Ireland.

Sunday’s sole jumps fixture meanwhile takes place in Ireland at Fairyhouse where the Group Three Brownstown Stakes is the feature race of the day.
