International Racing tips – Three horses to back at Gulfstream and Santa Anita this evening

International racing expert, Graham Rossiter highlights three horses to back running at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita this evening.

As usual there is plenty of Saturday evening Stateside action and below are my three best bets from tonight’s U.S cards.

Came from way off the pace when making a winning debut over 6 ½ furlongs in a maiden claimer at Gulfstream in September. This promising 3yo colt has since switched yards and is now handled by up and coming trainer Saffie Joseph. This step up to a mile looks sure to suit the son of Bodemeister and with Irad Ortiz booked to ride, Disc Jockey can remain unbeaten against some fairly exposed looking opposition.

Maraud is another who is making his first start for a new trainer in the shape of Joseph Orseno, having been previously handled by Carlos Martin. This 5yo colt endured a winless 2019 but wasn’t seen to best effect being campaigned mainly on dirt and is now fancied to show something like his best turf form here, notably a Grade 2 success in May 2018. His recent workouts have been impressive and he boasts two wins from three outings on the Gulfstream Park turf course. Maraud makes plenty of appeal from an inside draw in stall two under Paco Lopez.

Santa Anita hosts two Graded events tonight but the best bet on the card looks to be Jeff Bonde’s Itstthattime in the 1 mile Maiden Claimer. The 3yo gelding has indicated his turn may not be far away having shown improvement with each run and was a shade unlucky not to break his maiden on his latest start when finishing second despite being short of room turning for home. The son of Strong Mandate can go one better tonight under Rafael Bejarano who boasts a healthy 24% strike rate at the California track.
