IRISH RACING BEST BETS – LISTOWEL TIPS FOR SUNDAY
1:30 Listowel – Kerry Group 3YO Hurdle (3yo) 2m
REALIST was a fair sort on the flat when trained by Michael Bell, winning at Chelmsford in April and the Camelot gelding made a successful switch to hurdling when scoring at the first attempt for Sneezy Foster, going in at Down Royal last month.
He had reopposing Bell Ex One behind him on that occasion, winning with more authority than the official winning margin and he can confirm that form here with improvement anticipated.
2:30 Listowel – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle (Div I) (4yo+ 80-109) 2m4f
Lightly-raced OUTLIER can get back to winning ways following a break and the Flemensfirth filly ought to make her presence felt here.
Patrick Flynn’s charge made a successful debut when scoring at Tipperary in May and there wasn’t much wrong with his subsequent third back there next time behind Elegant Lass who has run well in defeat since in some better races.
She perhaps didn’t help her cause last time by racing keenly and if she can settle better she can surely improve while this longer trip might bring out some more improvement and she can make her presence felt.
3:30 Listowel – Dairygold Maiden Hurdle (5yo+) 3m
WALL OF FAME shaped well on his hurdles debut at Thurles back in February when finishing third and the Fame And Glory gelding can get off the mark here.
Placed twice in points prior to that effort he most recently struck gold in a Punchestown bumper for Sneezy Foster, beating Isle Of Oir and there is surely improvement to come from him reverting to hurdles with that victory under his belt.
He hasn’t been seen since so there’s a slight worry that he may just need this after six months off the track; however if fully wound up ahead of his return then there’d be no surprise to see him firmly in the mix here.
4:00 Listowel – Strings & Things Rated Novice Chase (4yo+) 2m1f
POSEIDON has hit the crossbar the last twice and the Born To Sea gelding can get back on the winning trail here.
A Killarney winner over hurdles for this yard as well as scoring on the flat he has gone close the last twice since tackling fences, runner-up to The Cathal Don at Tipperary and then going down by only a half-length behind Embittered at Killarney last time out.
He wasn’t always fluent with his jumping on that occasion but he was only run down late by the winner and the third did no harm to the form next time.
Likely to have more to come in this sphere he comes out well at the weights for this contest and he should make his presence felt.
