IRISH RACING TIPS FOR MONDAY – BEST BETS AT FAIRYHOUSE & LISTOWEL
3:15 Listowel – Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (Div II) (4yo+ 80-109) 2m
CORNERKOVA gave this column a winner when last seen at Kilbeggan where the Sholokhov mare ended a string of runner-up efforts with a ready victory over Tom Mcgreevy an it might be worth sticking with Henry de Bromhead’s charge to repeat the dose back in a handicap.
She had finished runner-up in each of her three previous runs prior to that victory but found improvement latest to score well and there’s likely more to come from her now she’s got her head in front for her top yard.
Rated 97 for that victory she has been pushed up 4lbs in the weights as she returns to the handicap ranks although her useful pilot takes 2lbs off and the pair ought to be competitive again.
3:30 Fairyhouse – Soldiers Call @Ballyhane Fillies Maiden (3yo+) 7f
ADELISA comes into this race with plenty of experience to call upon and while she’s yet to get her head in front she has turned in some consistent efforts and found only one too good last time out.
The Holy Roman Emperor filly was only run down late on that occasion when beaten a half-length by Climate at Navan and that one did little harm to the form when running well for fourth in a Group Three subsequently.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge had pulled clear of the third and a repeat of that last run might be good enough here dropping back to seven furlongs and no shock to see her in the mix again.
3:50 Listowel – Liam Healy Memorial Lartigue Hurdle (Handicap) (Grade B) (4yo) 2m
Lightly-raced MALINA GIRL is thrown into a strong looking handicap hurdle on just her second start in this sphere and while Gavin Cromwell’s charge will have to find improvement it might be worth chancing the Malinas filly to rise to the occasion.
Fair in bumpers which include a win at Wexford in August she turned in an impressive first foray over hurdles to run out a wide-margin winner at Bellewstown later in that month, beating Here To Stay by 14 lengths and that experience won’t have been lost on her.
She could prove potentially useful with the potential for improvement to come and while this is certainly tougher pitched into a handicap her mark may be workable and she can give a good account.
4:37 Fairyhouse – Ballyhane Blenheim Stakes (Listed Race) (2yo) 6f
Ger Lyons pitches STRAIGHT ANSWER into Listed company on the back of an impressive debut win at the Curragh last month and the Kodiac colt can improve on that experience to make her presence felt at this higher level.
She posted a defeat of Rhea Moon on that debut, scoring by just over one length where she showed a good attitude and that form was boosted when fourth placed Eriskay won next time; that rival reopposes here but is no better off at the weights with the selection having received 5lbs in that last run but gets the same again here.
The selection showed plenty of dash in that debut and can only improve for the experience so while this is tougher upped in class he is expected to make his presence felt again and there’d be no shock in seeing him double up here.
