2:10 Listowel – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Hurdle (4yo+) 2m4f
TELMESOMETHINGGIRL has progressed well this term over timber, winning two of her three starts either side of a creditable third in a Listed contest at Galway and Henry de Bromhead’s charge could prove tough to beat here.
The Stowaway mare latterly ran out an easy eight lengths’ victor over Two Shoe Tom at Bellewstown last month, making all and jumping well for an impressive success with the rest well strung out behind her. That form has admittedly taken a couple of knocks but she’s progressing well and could have more to offer.
She has better ground to contend with this time, but her breakthrough win at Roscommon in June came on a similar surface and with the potential for better still she can win again with Robbie Power taking over.
3:15 Listowel – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle (Div II) (4yo+ 80-109) 2m4f
TREES VALLEY has returned from lockdown in good fettle, building on her return to strike back-to-back victories at Tramore in August. The Mahler mare subsequently wasn’t disgraced when thwarted in her hat-trick attempt by Ciankyle at Ballinrobe and William Burke’s charge can give another good account.
Softer ground on that last outing might have been against her with both of her earlier victories coming on quicker ground and so this quicker surface could show her in a better light, while the handicapper has left her alone in the weights following that outing.
This is a tricky contest but she could face less competition for the lead than was the case last time and every chance she can bounce back to winning form here.
3:45 Listowel – Charleville Cheese Maiden Hurdle (5yo+) 3m
HAND IN MY POCKET has made the frame in all three of her starts over hurdles since scoring in a bumper at Bellewstown and John McConnell’s charge can strike here if reproducing a similar performance to her latest outing.
The Mahler mare was trying this longer trip for the first time when finding only Flamin Aimee too strong at Wexford earlier in the month where she was unable to hold off the challenge of the winner. However the front pair were clear of the rest and the form looks fair having been done no real harm since.
She sets the standard on her efforts to date and this quicker surface will suit so she can be given another chance under her good 5lbs claimer.
4:15 Listowel – Cheestrings Rated Novice Chase (4yo+) 2m1f
GOT TRUMPED has just two chase starts under his belt, winning when last seen in this sphere and while Jessica Harringtons’ charge needs to improve on that form he could well be up to the task at hand.
The Thewayyouare gelding was fairly useful over hurdles, winning at Pinchestown and being tried in Graded company during the 2018/19 season which included a run in the Fred Winter Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Lightly-raced last term he had a spin over fences at Punchestown although possibly failed to handile the heavy ground and having returned from a break this campaign with a couple of runs on the flat he got off the mark over fences with a defeat of Konitho at Roscommon in August.
That form hasn’t been done any harm and he showed a really good attitude to land the victory having been hard-pressed all the way to the line from the back of the last fence. This is tougher, but still unexposed as a chaser he can find another chunk of improvement and he could go well.
