Chris Loader combines four of his top tips into this Lucky 15 on Friday, covering races at Ascot, Uttoxeter and Wolverhampton on Friday 20th December.
Today has some top quality racing at Ascot and that’s where the main focus of my picks will be. I will also be adding another from Uttoxeter as we look for a profitable on my penultimate piece as the mini-break beckons before Christmas. Best odds available here with Unibet.
Friday’s Lucky 15
I put up Sully D’Oc AA when he ran a great race at Newbury only just to bump into Fanion D’Estruval of Venetia Williams who looked incredibly well handicapped. In this race the five-year-old is still on a rating of 127 which looks generous. He also remains very lightly raced and his trainer Anthony Honeyball has always said chasing would see him in a better light. Also Honeyball is in great shape operating at a 38% strike rate in the last fortnight. It would appear he should be the one to beat.
There doesn’t seem a day that goes past at the moment where Venetia Williams isn’t on the scoresheet somewhere and I think Storm Wizard will win again. This son of Milan won with ease at Bangor-On-Dee in a better race and still looks well treated under a penalty. He would be my banker leg today.
I think Saint De Reve has been pitched into a winnable race on his handicap debut for Paul Nicholls. His penultimate start at Exeter as worked out really well producing a few winners and he bolted up at Wincanton to score readily. Some might say his rating of 129 is a little high but I think he’s got the ability to take another step forward.
Savalas just didn’t quite get there in time on his last effort at Chelmsford when he finished in second. However he’s incredibly well handicapped off 84 and the race might just suit here and his closing style might pay off. The likes of Corinthia Knight & Acclaim The Nation like to set the pace and they could set it up for Savalas. I’m hoping off bottom weight he can go close.
