Loader’s Lucky 15 – top tips from Southwell and Navan

Chris Loader has taken a look through the card at Southwell and Navan and combined four of his tips to make up this each-way Lucky 15 on Sunday 15th December.

Wasn’t a bad International Meeting with a few winners across both days at Cheltenham. However I am looking for some more on Sunday with picks coming from Southwell & Navan.

Sunday’s Lucky 15

12.10 Southwell – Spirit Of Hale

Spirit of Hale ran an encouraging race at Sedgefield on his seasonal return to finish in 4th place. The form has already started to work out well with the winner scoring again and the 3rd place Pads winning  at Hexham this week. The eight-year-old has been a quirky customer in his career but he appreciates testing conditions and is back down to his last winning mark of 88. I expect him to make the frame.

12.30 Navan – Top Moon

The JP McManus owned horse could still have lots more improvement to come after scoring on handicap debut at Cork. The four-year-old over cane trouble in running after being hampered to assert comfortably in the closing stages. With the weight for age allowance Top Moon looks well treated in this field.

2.35 Navan – Minella Till Dawn

The son of Shantou has had his problems along the away after being a promising novice hurdler during his early days. He returned to form on his first start for 18 months to finish a respectable 3rd place at Punchestown and could be well in off 116 in this race. The form already worked out well Killer Miller winning at the beginning of December. If the cheek pieces have the effect I expect to go very close.

3.10 Navan – Pencilfulloflead

Gordon Elliott has been the trainer to follow in this race in recent seasons winning with the likes of Samcro & Envoi Allen. This five-year-old scored on debut with ease at Down Royal and was extremely well backed beating six previous bumper winners. There are some interesting runners in the field but with the trainers record and his impressive debut last time out, I’m siding with him.
