There is also a jumpers’ bumper racecard at Lingfield on their polytrack surface while in the evening there is further all-weather action on the flat at Wolverhampton as three meetings head to post throughout Monday.
We’ve looked over each of the day’s racecards where we pick out our daily racing tips and best bets for Monday.
DAILY RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT WARWICK, LINGFIELD & WOLVERHAMPTON
1:40 Lingfield – attheraces.com Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race (GBB Race) Cl5 (4-6yo) 2m
FANTOMAS stepped up on a promising debut fifth at Market Rasen to find only one too good in a similar contest over course and distance at the beginning of the month and the Sinndar gelding can go one better here.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ charge might ideally prefer a longer trip in time but he showed a decent level of ability from the front in that last run where he was eventually beaten just over two lengths, unable to match the winner for speed at the business end.
He’s likely to get another soft lead on this latest occasion and with further progress anticipated he can get off the mark at the third attempt.

KING D’ARGENT won one of these at Newcastle earlier in the month and despite dropping back in trip Dan Skelton’s charge can follow up.
The Kendargent gelding was a chase winner over this trip at Warwick back in December and he’s made the frame several times at the distance including at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival when finishing fourth in that year’s Martin Pipe Hurdle.
He won a shade cosily in that return to winning ways latest where he struck by two lengths from Reassurance with the front two pulling ten lengths clear and while he has to shoulder a penalty for that success he could be worth chancing to follow up with the lesser distance unlikely to present an issue.
3:55 Warwick – Paddy Power Warwick Castle Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (5yo+) 2m4f
SMARTY WILD has gradually been getting his act together over fences, getting off the mark at the fourth attempt with a win at Kempton last month where he overcame a couple of mistakes to score a shade readily.
A four-time hurdles winner he had looked to blunder away his chance at the tenth but he rallied well and leading over the second last he kept on dourly to record a narrow one lengths win over Pistol Whipped with the two pulling almost ten lengths clear.
Philip Hobbs’ charge has a 7lbs rise in the weights to overcome here but there could be better to come and if he can keep the mistakes down then it wouldn’t be a shock to see him going close for his in-form yard given he remains with potential as a chaser against more exposed rivals.
4:30 Warwick – From The Horses Mouth Podcast Handicap Hurdle Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 3m2f
Tom Symonds has really found the key to the thriving MR WASHINGTON who can continue on his upward curve here with another win.
Formerly with David Dennis for whom he failed to register a win the Vinnie Roe gelding is 4-4 over hurdles since joining this yard, finding another jolt of improvement to post a narrow success over this course and distance latest on New Years’ Eve.
The handicapper applies a little more pressure with a 3lbs rise in the weights for that last success but he gives the impression that there may yet be more to come and with no doubts over stamina or ability to handle the conditions he could prove the way to go here given his improvement may yet not have stalled.
5:30 Wolverhampton – Betway Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 2m½f
LUCKY DEAL has won his last two starts and can land the hat-trick here for trainer Mark Johnston.
The Mastercraftsman gelding has struck wins at Newcastle and Kempton in recent weeks under this rider, latterly beating Amtiyaz by three-parts of a length over this trip and that runner-up boosted the form next time.
Despite the narrow margin of victory he appeared to score a shade comfortably and there could be more in the locker to come. He has a good record on the all-weather including on this surface and only 3lbs higher for this latest outing he could prove up to the task of defying his new mark with further progress not ruled out.
6:30 Wolverhampton – Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 1m1½f
SKY DEFENDER was perhaps just a shade undercooked when finishing third to Assimilation at Lingfield last month and with that under his belt Mark Johnston’s Farhh horse can get back to winning ways.
An Epsom winner last July he largely held his form following that success without adding to his tally and he possibly failed to see out the longer trip at Kempton in November where he failed to beat a rival.
Back from three months off when last seen finishing two lengths’ third to reopposing Assimilation he ought to strip fitter now and a 4lbs swing in the weights in his favour could see him come out on top this time if the return to tapeta doesn’t catch him out.
