Horse Racing Tips on Monday, January 24

There are three meetings spread across Britain on Monday, January 24th with the action coming from Southwell, Kempton and Wolverhampton. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Monday Lucky 15.

Silks Dream (1.15 Kempton)

Although winless in eight starts as a juvenile, SILKS DREAM showed some useful form which included a Chelmsford debut third when beaten less than 3l by the now 90-rated Sanitiser, and he rates the one to beat in Kempton’s opening Unibet Horserace Betting Operator Of The Year Handicap.

This Mehmas colt made a promising start to 2022 when a staying on fourth at Southwell last week, and as that came on his first run after a short break he is entitled to strip fitter here.

He runs off the same mark here and has the assistance of top claimer Tyler Heard once again in the saddle. With a mark of 66 unlikely to prove troublesome, he rates a solid play.

Allowed (2.30 Southwell)

Southwell’s Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap sees top trainer Ralph Beckett make a rare journey to the track with his 4yo ALLOWED.

This daughter of Al Kazeem showed only modest form in three starts in novices at the backend of last year but she put up an improved showing when third on handicap debut at Wolverhampton last time out.

Despite looking outpaced turning for home over that extended 1m1f Allowed kept on for pressure and the performance strongly suggested that this step up to 1m3f on a more demanding track would suit.

Whittle Le Woods (2.45 Kempton)

Twice a winner in novices for Michael Dods, WHITTLE LE WOODS was 0-5 in handicaps for previous connections but bumped into the likes of First Folio and Boogie Time. He looked a good purchase at 20,000 guineas for these connections at the Autumn Sales and added weight to that theory when building on a stable debut second when running out a 1l winner at Chelmsford eleven days ago – he looks good value to follow up in Kempton’s Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap.

Although predominantly tackling 6f when running for the Dods yard, Mick Appleby wasted no time in pushing Whittle Le Woods up to 7f at Chelmsford and he stayed the additional yardage perfectly fine.

Top pilot Jason Watson retains familiarities here, and a 3lb rise for that latest victory looks far from insurmountable when factoring in that he remains unexposed at the trip, has a good draw in stall 4, and can have his latest run improved considering that he had to be switched wide to make his challenge.

Defence Treaty (3.00 Southwell)

Richard Fahey has proven profitable to follow with his older horses here at Southwell in recent seasons and DEFENCE TREATY bids to maintain that when he takes up an engagement in the MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Handicap.

This 6yo Dandy Man gelding remains without a win since scoring at Redcar last April, but as a result he has slipped 4lb below that winning mark and has shaped with promise since returning from a break the last twice.

Albeit unraced at the track since the switch to Tapeta, Defence Treaty holds form figures of 2129 here at Southwell and the new surface shouldn’t inconvenience a horse who has previously won at Newcastle.

Monday Lucky 15 Tips. Course winner Defence Treaty rates a solid proposition for Richard Fahey.
