Monday’s 14,855/1 Lucky 15 – Our UK Racing Best Bets On June 27

Horse Racing Tips on Monday, June 27

Four meetings take place across Britain on Monday, June 27th. The afternoon action comes from Southwell, over jumps, and Pontefract, with Windsor and Musselburgh joining in towards the evening. Our 14,855/1 Lucky 15 best bets are outlined below.

Wheres Maud Gone (1.00 Southwell)

The opening race on Monday presents an opportunity for a promising bumper horse tp step forward and win for the first time over obstacles.

WHERES MAUD GONE was a successful in two bumpers in Ireland and Scotland prior to finishing fifth in a Grade 2 race for that level at Aintree in April 2021. She was even fifth in Listed company in the same sphere back in November, being beaten only five lengths.

To say the wheels have come off since is an understatement, as she was tailed off at Taunton before distinctly underwhelming in a pair of maiden hurdles at Sedgefield and Market Rasen. However, she is a mre with a fair amount of size and scope and she ran a much better race on her chase debut at the latter venue earlier this month.

It may just be that she prefers the minimum trip of 2m over fences for the time being. A mark of 95 leaves plenty of optimism for a victory soon.

Madeeh (3.00 Southwell)

While there are a few who could step forward in this class 5 handicap, the least exposed over hurdles is MADEEH and there is scope for him to improve quite markedly.

He is still rated 67 on the all-weather, while he reached a peak of 86 on the flat last season. He finds himself off that mark on his National Hunt handicap debut and given there is usually an average of between 45-50lb between the two codes, he is potentially rated well below what he could be capable of.

His first two novice hurdle starts last autumn saw him come up against two very progressive types of Donald McCain’s, while the six-year-old returned to this sphere with a better effort to be second at Market Rasen. The winner was a 1/8 shot, while Madeeh pulled 32 lengths clear of the third.

The rest of that field was likely of the lowest level, but Phil Kirby’s charge could easily make into a half-decent handicapper over timber. Registering a first victory here would go some way to achieving that.

Twilight Secret (4.45 Southwell)

Top-weight in this competitive handicap is TWILIGHT SECRET and while Grant Tuer may seemingly have a better chance in Stalingrad according to the market, this could be an opportunity for the selection to bounce back.

The four-year-old was a runner up to none other than Dragon Symbol on his debut last March and was victorious off a mark of 75 last autumn at Wolverhampton. That came over this trip of 6f for James Tate, but he also made a promising start for Tuer in April.

He was third, beaten only 1¾ lengths, at Musselburgh. Since then, his performances have steadily worsened and he has been well-beaten the last thrice.

However, those have been in very strong races, with two of those being off marks above his last winning one. Though he has tended to save his best for the all-weather, a mark of 71 is now 4lb below his victory at Wolverhampton and this is a much easier assignment than those he has been given recently.

Thismydream (5.15 Windsor)

There does not appear to be a lot between the eight runners in Windsor’s opener. THISMYDREAM might be one to side with for Michael Attwater.

The son of Camacho is from a speedy family on both sides and while he is winless in his career so far, he has run some good races at times. He was a 200/1 sixth in Listed company when trained in Ireland as a juvenile and on some of his best performances on RPRs, he would have every chance of challenging off a mark of 70.

He transferred to Attwater in May. His first run for the yard came at Bath, finishing as runner-up in a maiden that has a decent level of form to it. On his handicap debut, off a mark of 72, he was fourth of seven at Lingfield.

However, he was ridden up the inside by William Carson, which is never the best place to be in terms of finishing a race at that track. He still stayed on towards the end and he appeals here off 2lb lower.
