Monday’s Lucky 15 Tips – Our UK Racing Best Bets On January 3
Horse Racing Tips on Monday, January 3
There are four meetings spread across Britain on Monday with the action coming from Southwell, Lingfield, Musselburgh and Wolverhampton. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Monday Lucky 15.
One Step Beyond (12.40 Lingfield)
The 1m MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Handicap looks a good opportunity for ONE STEP BEYOND to get his head back in front.
Roger Ingram’s charge was picked up for 14,000 guineas after landing a 7f Wolverhampton handicap for Richard Spencer in April.
He has finished 11th and 7th in two starts since joining current connections but as a result has now slipped a pound below that Wolverhampton winning mark and he has been shaping as though well worth a step back up to this mile trip.
With the plum draw to his advantage and none of these rivals coming into this in particularly strong form, an improved showing looks likely.
Brorson (2.20 Southwell)
A good standard Sky Sports Racing Virgin 535 Handicap Hurdle here for the grade but the eye is immediately drawn to BRORSON, who chased home the classy Broomfield Burg in a bumper here back in May.
Connections found the 6yo a good opportunity to break his maiden tag when sending him up to Catterick last month, and the gelding duly obliged at odds of 30/100f.
That may have took little winning but it will have done his confidence the world of good and being an ex pointer there’s plenty of evidence for improvement now tackling 3m for the first time under rules.
Les’s Legacy (2.30 Musselburgh)
Musselburgh’s Betway Handicap Hurdle can go to the Sam Coltherd ridden LES’S LEGACY, who has looked steadily progressive since sent handicapping over hurdles, putting up a career-best showing when second at Newcastle last time out.
The winner that day Planned Paradise was clearly well treated on handicap debut off a mark of 93, and the front two pulled a good bit clear of the remainder, so Les’s Legacy seemed to lose very little in defeat there.
He runs off the same mark of 90 today, and remains open to improvement when compared with most of these rivals, so rates as the one that they all have to beat.
Major Robinson (3.20 Southwell)
Although still without a win since taking a Thurles bumper for Stuart Crawford back in March 2020, MAJOR ROBINSON is backed to land the Watch Off The Fence On attheraces.com Handicap Hurdle.
This Kalanisi gelding has put up improving form figures of 7-6-5-4 in his starts since returning from a break, shaping as though this new headgear combination could work the oracle at Exeter last time.
He is 2lb lower here and has the assistance of Tom Scudamore back in the saddle. David Pipe has been profitable to follow with his runners here in recent years and Major Robinson is taken to enhance that with victory in Southwell’s concluding race.
