RACING BEST BETS FOR MONDAY – TIPS FOR THE DAY’S UK RACEMEETINGS
2:10 Wolverhampton – Grab A Free Bet Go To Freebet.com Maiden Handicap Cl5 (3yo 0-75) 1m4f
MAKETH BELIEVETH has been running well in defeat as he chases a first career win and Harry Dunlop’s charge can make the breakthrough here.
The Make Believe colt has made the frame in four out of his five starts to date, most recently finding only one too good at this course and distance last month behind Geremia where he was only denied by a neck and he looks capable of going one better here with a repeat of that effort.
That winner has run well since, finishing runner-up next time out, and a 3lbs rise for that most recent run could prove fair indeed given he has the potential to still improve.
3:00 Ayr – Big Al’s 50th Birthday Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 1m2f
KOLISI is given another chance having found the test too much when taking in a competitive handicap contest at Glorious Goodwood last time out where the Harzand gelding appeared stretched by the longer trip on the ground.
William Haggas’ charge had looked progressive prior to that run, improving with each start and getting off the mark at Salisbury in June where he ran out a comfortable winner from Marching Army who has since won.
The longer trip last time out probably stretched his stamina and he could do better back at this intermediate distance with the ease into a Class 3 contest likely so see him bounce back.
3:20 Wolverhampton – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 EBF Novice Stakes (GBB Race) Cl5 (2yo) 6f
FOZZIE BEAR could be the answer here with further improvement anticipated from the Kodiac gelding who can get off the mark at the third attempt.
Roger Charlton’s charge has finished third on both starts to date, most recently when beaten just over one length behind Mr Mccann at Lingfield where he still looked in need of the experience.
That form has been boosted since with both the winner and runner-up going on to land subsequent wins and the application of cheekpieces for the first time could elicit another jolt of progress. The headgear could also help focus his energies given he travelled well in that last race before finding little and he ought to make his presence felt here.
4:35 Ayr – QTS Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 1m
CORNDAVON LAD is proving consistent this term since returning to the turf, winning over this course and distance in April and making the frame on all three subsequent outings the latest of which came at Hamilton when finishing third to Retirement Beckons, beaten one length.
That form looks fair with the fourth winning twice since and the Camacho gelding can continue in good form returning from a couple of months’ break.
Richard Fahey’s charge has shown he can be competitive from higher marks given he’s placed from ratings in the 70s earlier in his career and the handicapper has eased him 1lb so he looks set for a big performance.
6:25 Ripon – Best Odds Guaranteed At ne-bet.com Nursery Handicap Cl5 (2yo 0-70) 6f
JUST A CLAIM is improving with each start and the Aclaim filly can follow up her breakthrough victory at Haydock last month on just her fourth career start.
Roger Fell’s charge ran out a half-length winner over Emporium Flame on that occasion, improving on earlier efforts on what was her handicap debut and Roger Fell’s charge can improve again to follow up here.
That form has taken a couple of knocks but she showed a good attitude to score and she’s effectively only 1lb higher in the weights here under his 7lbs rider who offsets the rise in the handicap she is burdened with for this latest run.
6:35 Windsor – Kelly Thorbes 50th Birthday Celebration Novice Stakes Cl5 (3-4yo) 5f
STRIKE ME A POSE shaped with promise on debut when finishing runner-up over this trip at Leicester last month and with that experience under his belt Archie Watson’s charge can go one better here with improvement anticipated.
The Adaay gelding ran green mid-race before the penny dropped and he finished off the contest strongly although no match for the easy winner; he had pulled clear of the third however and he’ll surely have learned plenty on the back of that first run.
He can show improvement for that debut run on this latest occasion and there’d be no surprise in seeing him get involved.
8:05 Windsor – Free Replays On attheraces.com Handicap Cl6 (3yo 0-55) 1m3½f
CALCUTTA DREAM has shown enough in his runs to date to suggest he’s up to winning a race and Mick Easterby’s charge can make a successful breakthrough here.
The well-bred Iffraaj gelding showed improved form latest where he ran without a hood for the first time, finishing third behind Berry Edge and beaten two lengths , not helped by being slowly away but running on well late on to finish never nearer.
That race has thrown up a subsequent winner and he could progress again as he gains more experience to win a small race such as this where he’s 1lb lower in the weights now. Still with the potential to improve he can post a big run here and every chance he can get off the mark.
