RACING BEST BETS ON WEDNESDAY – TIPS FOR THE DAY’S UK RACEMEETINGS
1:52 Brighton – Cazoo Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 5½f
STREET PARADE got back on the up in first-time cheekpieces when going in at Sandown recently and with the headgear retained Michael Attwater’s charge can follow up.
The Swiss Spirit gelding had been running consistently in defeat prior to that victory aside from a poor effort at Bath two starts ago; but the headgear appeared to sharpen him up latest and a 3lbs rise in the weights is manageable given his historic form as he was rated much higher a couple of seasons ago.
Assuming he can build on that latest performance then he should make his presence felt here and he can go in again.
2:10 Bath – Download The Casumo App Today Fillies’ Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 1m2f
This could be tricky but SKY BRIGHT can follow up her latest victory at Leicester last month and the Dawn Approach filly ought to go close.
Ed Walker’s charge was winning for the first time when readily seeing off Atavique on that last occasion, running out a near-two lengths’ winner and the form has since been boosted with the runner-up going one better next time while the fourth subsequently finished runner-up on her next start.
She won with something up her sleeve latest and a 4lbs rise for that win may prove lenient given she has the potential for better to come so there’d be no surprise in seeing her prove tough to beat.
2:45 Bath – Join Casumo Today Kelston Cup Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-90) 1m2f
WESTERN ALLIANCE made a winning reappearance at Nottingham in May on what was just his second career start and the Kingman colt can get back to winning ways here.
Clive Cox’s charge struck by a head on that occasion and while he met with defeat next time at Newbury it was arguably a better effort where he was beaten less than one length by Poet For Life.
He was only run down late on that occasion by the winner who has franked the form by winning again while the fourth horse home also bettered his finishing position next time out.
Now tried in a handicap he could be well-treated off an initial mark of 92 given he has the potential for improvement and every chance he can make his presence felt here to get back on the scoresheet.
3:10 Pontefract – tiesplanet.com – Ladies Love Guys In Ties Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 2m1f
PRINCE IMPERIAL got back on the winning trail when scoring at Chelmsford in June having been unsuited by soft ground the time before and Richard Hughes’ charge lost no caste in defeat when finding only one too good at Newmarket latest behind Amazing Red.
The Frankel gelding was winning for the third time when beating Cedar Cage on the all-weather two starts ago where he wore reapplied blinkers, running out an easy six lengths’ winner and he stepped up to this higher level with that excellent near miss that came over a shorter trip.
He tried to make all that day where he battled well once headed but couldn’t hold off the winner and he was beaten less than one length at the line. The handicapper has left him alone following that run and Tyler Heard takes over in the saddle with the rider’s claim taking 5lbs off his back viewed as a positive.
Back up in distance here he can resume winning ways with proven form over these marathon distances and no surprise to see him going well.
4:10 Brighton – Wainwright Brighton Mile Challenge Handicap (For The Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1m
KAYFAST WARRIOR is thriving at present, winning five of his last six starts and assuming this latest run during a very spell of racing for the No Nay Never gelding doesn’t have an adverse effect then Tom Dascombe’s charge can strike again to keep his good form going.
The application of cheekpieces has certainly had a positive effect and he has struck wins on contrasting ground conditions at five different venues while his last defeat two runs ago saw him denied only by a neck.
Kieran Schofield gets on well with the three-year old who tackles a stronger race here; but he’s 7lbs well-in on these current terms before being reassessed to a higher mark and he can compete from the same rating as when beating Mark Of Respect at Sandown last month so there’d be no surprise in seeing him deliver another big run here.
4:55 Pontefract – Chaplins Club Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 5f
EAST STREET REVUE isn’t sure to be in the same form that saw him end his losing run at Haydock last month but Tim Easterby’s charge could make his presence felt again here and double up.
The Pastoral Pursuits gelding isn’t the most consistent but he had largely been running well before getting back to winning ways latest, scoring with something to spare having idled in front before running on again to score by a head.
He’s up 3lbs for that but remains well treated on his old form assuming he arrives here in the same form and if he can show similar form to last time then he ought to go close here.
8:15 Yarmouth – Your Mortgage Solutions 20th Anniversary Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 5f
DARK SIDE PRINCE has been in good form this term, scoring twice on the all-weather at Southwell and Chelmsford in early-summer before finishing a good third back on turf at this venue in July behind Electric Love.
Jessica Macey’s charge was beaten two lengths on that occasion, making most of the running but finding himself outpaced late on behind an easy winner and he only relinquished the silver medal spot close home.
The Equiano gelding can compete here from the same mark but with Laura Pearson coming in for the ride on the four-year old the rider’s 3lbs allowance adds some further strength to his chances and while this is a slightly stronger race he can make his presence felt.
8:30 Kempton – Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap (Jockey Club Grassroots Stayers’ Series Qualifier) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 2m
VINO VICTRIX found improvement upped in trip to score at Sandown last month and the Sir Percy colt is fancied to go in again with this even longer test expected to bring another jolt of improvement in Hughie Morrison’s charge.
He had shown glimpses of ability in earlier runs but tackling 1m 6f for the first time saw a much better performance as he ran out a comfortable winner from Classic Lord at the Esher track, scoring readily and a 7lbs rise for that win might underestimate his potential for improvement given his lightly-raced profile.
That form has been significantly boosted with the runner-up, third and fourth horses all winning since and with in-form Oisin Murphy in the saddle he holds obvious claims of following up here.
