1:30 Chepstow – Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Cl5 (3yo 0-70) 7f
ALMOST AN ANGEL posted his second course success when going in here just four days ago and quickly turned out under a penalty the Heeraat gelding can strike again if none the worse.
David Evans’ charge had also won here in July and he’s sandwiched a pair of in-the-frame efforts between those victories. He ran out a neck winner latest from Accrington Stanley and a 6lbs penalty for that victory may not stop him from going in again with Gina Mangan back in the saddle with her 7lbs claim to help.
He likes this place as his recent record attests and there’d be no shock to see him going close again if the quick turnout hasn’t left a mark.
2:15 Brighton – Follow @starsports_bet On Twitter Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-70) 7f
RHYME SCHEME found some improvement when fitted with cheekpieces for the first time to run out a winner here earlier in the month and Michael Appleby’s charge can go in again having only been raised 2lbs.
The Poet’s Voice filly was registering her first success on that occasion when running out a three-parts of a length winner over Deeds Not Words, making all the running and winning comfortably in the end; this is harder and she’ll likely need a bit more to strike but now she’s off the mark there could be more to come and the headgear can work again.
The booking of William Buick catches the eye with the rider in top form at present and she’s been competitive in the past from similar marks so every chance she can make her presence felt again.
2:30 Chepstow – Casumo Horse Racing And Sports Betting Apprentice Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-85) 7f
BOLLY BULLET arrives here in good form, winning two of his three starts this campaign but almost landing the hat-trick at Salisbury latest when run down late by the eventual winner.
John O’Shea’s charge has looked progressive since joining this yard and both previous wins came at the same venue so he should have little issue adapting to this track and the form of his last win has been working out.
He’s only 3lbs here than for that latest near-miss but cheekpieces go back on now which could help him find a little more while Liam Browne’s 7lbs claim means he’s effectively 1lb lower than when posting his last win so another bold showing wouldn’t come as a surprise.
3:15 Brighton – Call Star Sports On 08000 521 321 Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-60) 1m2f
JUNOESQUE has won her last two course and distance starts and arrives searching for a hat-trick; the Virtual mare can oblige punters by going in again.
John Gallacher’s charge has also won at Nottingham this campaign but she goes particularly well here and most recently ran out a comfortable victor over Beau Geste, winning easier than the bare half-length margin would otherwise attest.
She made all that day and wasn’t for passing when challenged as she kept finding more in front under this rider and a repeat from just 2lbs higher should see her firmly in the mix once again.
5:55 Ripon – Vaccination Centre Volunteers Thank You Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 5f
HARROGATE looks worth chancing on the back of a couple of good recent efforts which saw the Society Rock gelding win at Musselburgh two starts ago and latterly finish just over two lengths’ third to Glorious Rio at Nottingham ten days ago.
Paul Midgley’s charge arguably wasn’t seen to best effect there, ploughing a lone furrow up the near-side rail with the front two coming down the centre of the track; but he stuck well to his task and was clear of the fourth.
He was giving away plenty of weight on that occasion and a repeat of that effort here might be good enough for all this is is a slightly tougher grade. He has been competitive from higher marks in the past though and every chance he can give another good account of himself back at this venue where he is a course and distance winner.
6:35 Stratford – Dr Robert Davies 50th Birthday Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (4yo+ 0-140) 3m2½f
WBEE is progressive and can land another win on the back of a hat-trick that saw the Yeats gelding win twice over course and distance in recent runs either side of a victory at Cartmel and Gary Hanmer’s charge can continue his upward curve.
He most recently struck by just over one length at this venue in July, beating Oksana a shade readily in the end having idled in front and he’s been raised 5lbs for that win which could prove very lenient given he still appears progressive.
3-3 over this course in his career he ought to turn in another big performance and no surprise to see him in the mix again.
