RACING TIPS FOR SATURDAY’S FIXTURES – BEST BETS FOR THE DAY’S UK RACEMEETINGS

2:00 Newmarket – MansionBet Bet £10 Get £20 Fillies’ Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m6f

Lightly-raced GOOLWA takes a step up in class here but Andrew Balding’s charge can continue his progression and ought to go close to another win.

Both wins for the Australia filly have come on the polytrack at Kempton, latterly beating Hyanna on her latest outing earlier in the month; but she had been denied only by a head on her sole previous start on turf behind Percy’s Pride on her handicap debut in July and there could be more improvement to come from her.

She’s up just 4lbs for that latest success and with her yard in good form there’d be little shock in seeing her win again.

2:55 Newbury – BetVictor Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 7f

SUNSET BAY arrives here on a hat-trick of wins, one of which came over this course and distance and the Cable Bay filly can land her three-timer here.

She had finished runner-up in two of her previous three starts before running out a comfortable winner over Newton Jack for the first of her wins and she improved to follow up latest at Sandown where she had four lengths to spare over Apres Dark.

While her bare form probably needs improving upon in what looks a stronger race she is nonetheless improving and ought to go well given she has scope for better.

3:00 Doncaster – Cazoo Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 7f

MOTAWAAJED has won two of his four career starts to date, most recently running out a comfortable winner at Lingfield last month with a defeat of Royal Pleasure and William Haggas’ charge can strike again.

The Dark Angel gelding struck by just over one length in that latest outing, making all the running at a steady pace before stealing a march on rivals two out and keeping on well to the line. That form has since been franked with the third winning next time out and there may be more to come now handicapping.

Given his unexposed profile he could be fairly handicapped off an opening 95 rating and there’d be no surprise in seeing him improve again on that most recent showing to follow up.

3:40 Newmarket – MansionBet At Newmarket Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m4f

TOP BRASS can get back on the scoresheet here having gone close latest and the Gleneagles colt brings some solid form to the table for this handicap.

John and Thady Gosden’s charge got off the mark at the third attempt last term when scoring at Chelmsford, but his first couple of runs this term haven’t set the heather alight. However he produced a more promising effort back on the all-weather latest when finding only one too good in Epidemic.

Still unexposed on turf he shaped as if he might be suited by a stiffer test and it is no surprise to see him going up in trip here where he could take the beating.

3:45 Ripon – William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 6f

STAXTON’s form figures don’t make for great reading but it might be worth chancing the Equiano gelding to get back on the winning trail returning to this track where he has a good record.

Tim Easterby’s charge took this race twelve months ago from just 4lbs lower in the weights having also won on his previous visit over course and distance. He struggled subseqeuntly but made a winning return back here in April and there’d be no shock in seeing him leave behind recent efforts including when only tenth to reopposing Mr Wagyu at Goodwood last month.

He was giving that rival 5lbs when just a half-length behind in fourth in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup and that form has been boosted since. With a sizeable pull at the weights mow and back at his favoured venue he can resume winning ways here and no surprise if he were to go close.

Racing tips for Saturday's fixtures. Staxton can get back to winning ways in the feature Great St Wilfred Handicap at Ripon.

4:00 Newbury – Mettal UK Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m2f

CAMELOT TALES bounced back from a couple of lesser runs to score at Ayr in July and Simon Crisford’s charge can get back to winning ways here.

Also a winner at Redcar earlier in the campaign the Camelot gelding most recently finished around three lengths’ third to Southern Voyage at Ascot last month where he raced too freely and failed to get home over the longer trip.

Assuming he settles better this time around he could get back on the up dropping back to this trip and having looked a potentially smart prospect previously he can make his presence felt here where he remains open to improvement.

4:25 Perth – Elderflower And Gooseberry Gin Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (4yo+ 0-140) 2m4f

PAMMI is worth another chance despite being thwarted in her hat-trick attempt over this course last time out; the Poet’s Voice mare can however run well and resume winning ways.

Jim Goldie’s charge had won a brace of victories in her two starts prior to that near miss behind Putting Green where she was denied only by a nose although all three of those runs as well as her runner-up effort in June here were all over three miles.

She drops back in trip here which isn’t guaranteed to suit and a 3lbs rise in the handicaps applies a little more pressure; but she ought to give another good account given she arrives in fine form and every chance she can make her presence felt again.

7:35 Market Rasen – Minster Group Handicap Hurdle Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 2m7f

THE BEES KNEES has been in fair form of late over the larger obstacles and despite carrying top-weight here Fergal O’Brien’s charge can get back to winning ways returning to hurdles.

A dual-winner over timber last term with victories at Newton Abbot and Musselburgh the Oscar gelding continued in good heart despite meeting defeat in subsequent runs before trying his luck over fences where he’s made the frame on all four occasions including at Stratford latest when finishing five lengths’ third behind Fat Sam.

He’s back over hurdles here from the same mark as when scoring at Musselburgh last term and he holds solid claims here despite giving weight all-round to this field.

Racing tips for Saturday's fixtures. Fergal O'Brien can saddle a winner on the Market Rasen card.

7:15 Bath – Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1m

MYKONOS ST JOHN had been on a roll on the all-weather following his return from five months off the track, winning three times and the Swiss Spirit gelding wasn’t disgraced at Ascot latest where he wasn’t seen to best effect and hampered in finishing fifth behind Global Esteem.

That form has been boosted since and Jamie Osborne’s charge could bounce back here having been dropped 2lbs following that run while Saffie Osborne is back in the saddle and can take a further 5lbs off. The talented rider is also 3-3 on the four-year old and they can combine again here for another victory in a race that should be run to suit.

Still likely progressive there’d be no shock in seeing him run well here and he can make his presence felt.
