RACING TIPS FOR SUNDAY – FLAT RACING TIPS FOR BEVERLEY, GOODWOOD & YARMOUTH

2:05 Yarmouth – Moulton Nurseries Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m2f

FINEST SOUND was having just his first try over this longer trip when finishing less than one length third behind Good Birthday and it might be worth chancing on the Exceed and Excel gelding getting back to winning ways here.

Simon and Ed Crisford’s charge had started the season well, finishing runner-up on debut at Nottingham before scoring at Haydock in April and his subsequent run in the Royal Hunt Cup is best overlooked as he raced on the wrong part of the track.

His efforts since have been better and he saw the longer trip out fine latest on his first try at the distance. Unexposed over the trip there could be more to come from him and racing off the same mark ought to make his presence felt.

Racing tips for Sunday. Trainer Simon Crisford can saddle a winner on the card at Yarmouth.

2:30 Beverley – Celebrating The Life Of Joe Rowntree Nursery Handicap Cl4 (2yo 0-85) 5f

CATCH CUNNINGHAM had improved with each start and got off the mark at the third attempt when gaining a short-head verdict over Secret Strength at Newcastle in June. Things didn’t’ go to plan for the Kodiac colt next time when taking a hefty rise in grade for his handicap debut at Glorious Goodwood where Kevin Ryan’s charge finished seventh behind Ever Given.

He was beaten around ten lengths on that occasion but might have gone off too hard and faded once headed. That form though looks very decent and he eases back in class for this latest outing where he’s also been dropped 2lbs in the weights.

He could be very well treated as a result given he’s open to plenty of improvement and this is an easier assignment than last time, while his rider’s 7lbs claim is noteworthy and he looks worth chancing to bounce back to winning ways here.

3:05 Beverley – Brian Dixon Memorial Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m2f

CASILLI has been progressive this term and is already a three-time winner, landing her third victory of the campaign when scoring over course and distance latest with a short-head defeat of Zeimaam.

Mick Easterby’s Cacique filly has won three times over this course now and despite the narrow margin of victory last time she appeared to do the job readily so a 3lbs rise in the weights ought to be workable given she remains open to further improvement and still relatively unexposed over this trip.

She gets weight all round from this field and Joanna Mason can take off a further 3lbs so while this represents a step up in class she ought to make her presence felt again at this venue where she clearly does well and no surprise to see her in the mix again.

4:00 Goodwood – Weatherbys Hamilton Supreme Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

ONASSIS might ideally want softer ground than this but the Dubawi filly has the back-class and form to remain a force despite the quicker conditions and Charlie Fellowes’ charge can get back to winning ways.

A three-time winner last term and placed in Pattern company she has run well in defeat the last twice following her reappearance, latterly arguably unlucky not to have won a Group Three contest here in July when beaten just a half-length by Last Empire.

On that occasion she conceded first run having met with trouble at a crucial stage, but she was finishing off the race well and gaining all the way to the line but too late to get to the winner. A repeat of that effort would put her in the mix again and assuming the quicker conditions don’t prove a negative then she can go close again.

Racing tips for Sunday. Onassis can win at Goodwood on Sunday.

4:35 Goodwood – Chichester City Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-100) 1m2f

Lightly-raced HIGHLAND ROCKER got off the mark on his first try on turf when successful at Ripon and it may be worth chancing on the Gleneagles colt to get back to winning ways here.

John and Thady Gosden’s charge failed to fire on his next outing following that victory at Newbury but may not have been suited by the softer ground and he ran better back on a better surface at Newmarket latest over this trip where he met with trouble in running behind Dubai Honour and eventually finishing fourth.

That form is certainly working out well with the winner and runner-up both going on to land Group prizes on their respective next runs while the third won a valuable handicap next time at Sandown and racing off the same mark here he rates a big player with further improvement anticipated from him.

5:00 Yarmouth – Sky Sports Racing 415 Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 6f

MORTY has generally proven consistent in his runs and the Kingman gelding can get back to winning ways here.

David O’Meara’s charge has won twice this term in what has been a busy campaign, scoring the last of those victories in a Ripon seller earlier in the month. He’s run twice since, finishing runner-up at Catterick and then fourth at Ffos Las within the space of ten days and under a penalty both times.

Racing off the same mark here having been given a few more days off he could go well upped to his longer trip while his good claimer takes off a handy 5lbs and a big run wouldn’t come as a surprise.
