RACING TIPS ON FRIDAY 27 AUGUST – BEST BETS FOR THE DAY’S UK FIXTURES
1:20 Ffos Las – foreverpuppy.co.uk Nursery Handicap Cl6 (2yo 0-65) 7½f
ZAIN NIBRAS has bettered his finishing position with each start and Ismael Mohammed’s charge can get off the mark now at the fifth attempt.
The Havana Gold colt was last seen finishing a creditable runner-up behind Sun Rising at Beverley earlier in the month, beaten only a neck on what was his handicap debut and only run down late bu the winner who has since run well in defeat.
He still looked a little green on occasion in that run despite it being his fourth outing; however there’s likely still more to come and off the same mark might be capable of going one better this time.
2:40 Thirsk – Bet At Racing TV Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 6f
This is competitive but it might pay to side with top-weight INTRINSIC BOND who might find the company a bit a but easier to swallow after a gallant fourth in the recent Great St Wilfred Handicap at Ripon and Tracy Waggott’s charge can give a good account easing slightly in grade.
The Intrinsic gelding had won at Catterick in July where he ran out a convincing winner over Look Out Louis prior to finishing a close runner-up at Ripon and then posting that very good fourth latest.
He’s twice been beaten by reopposing Rathbone over this course and distance which is a slight worry and the last of those saw him attempt to give 2lbs to that rival when only sixth; but he went on to win his next race and if continuing in the same sort of vein as recent runs he can make his presence felt for all he probably needs a bit more on balance.
3:30 Newmarket – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-100) 1m4f
FABILIS won twice as a juvenile and has been running better than his defeats since might suggest, twice finishing runner-up this term either side of a tilt at the Italian Derby and latterly not disgraced in a competitive contest at Goodwood when last seen finishing sixth to Nagano.
Ralph Beckett’s charge should find this a shade easier than that Goodwood contest although this is still a competitive little contest; however he could benefit from this trip in time and makes only his second start over twelve furlongs having perhaps not been seen to best effect last time in the soft ground.
Quicker conditions here may help and he may have more still to offer so looks worth chancing to progress and get off the mark for the season.
6:53 Goodwood – Gusbourne Fillies’ Handicap Cl3 (4yo+ 0-95) 1m
LOLA SHOWGIRL had looked progressive earlier in the season where she won both her starts back from a break which included in the Kensington Palace Stakes during Royal Ascot where she struck by three-parts of a length from Ffion having made all.
Also a Chepstow winner last term the Night Of Thunder filly might have gone off too hard when tried in a Listed contest at Haydock when last seen, eventually fading into fourth behind Waliyak who has since run well in a Group Three.
David Loughnane’s charge takes a drop back in class here into a Class 3 contest and she remains with scope for better so can exploit this mark under Laura Pearson.
7:10 Hamilton – Phoenix Utilities Ltd Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-60) 1m4f
MILLIE THE MINX has been combining flat and hurdles racing to good effect and Dianne Sayer’s charge can get back on the scoresheet in this sphere.
A dual-winner over course and distance last campaign she has continued the good work over hurdles with three wins from five, the latest of which came at Cartmel on her most recent racecourse appearance. She’s also run twice on the flat also in amongst those hurdles runs – both here – where she’s finished runner-up both times and she ought to remain competitive back on the flat.
She’s only 3lbs higher than when denied by a neck behind Feldspar over an extra furlong here in June and given her consistency she should continue to make her presence felt at this venue where she invariably runs well.
