WOLVERHAMPTON RACING TIPS
CONCIERGE (4/1, Bet365) gained some reward for several consistent efforts in defeat when scoring over course and distance twelve days ago and David Loughnane’s charge could be worth chancing to strike again.
The Society Rock gelding was ending a losing run stretching back to October 2016 when beating Reeves by almost two lengths latest and a subsequent 6lbs rise in the weights leaves him fairly treated on the pick of his historic form.
He’s 3-4 under Sylvestre De Sousa who again takes the reins for this contest and he won his only previous start at this venue so there’s a lot to like about his chances. His latest win was coming and if continuing with his current good spell then he could go in again here.
LEXINGTON STORM (2/1, Bet365) offered something to work on when finishing runner-up on debut last month at Kempton and Richard Hannon’s charge can put that experience to good use where he can go one better here.
The Dream Ahead colt was beaten two lengths behind Clog Maker where he was unable to sustain his effort to the line. The winner had had the benefit of experience though and it was a creditable run.
He ought to have learned plenty from that initial outing and this longer trip could unlock further improvement. He could prove a tough nut to crack with improvement forthcoming and no surprise to see him get off the mark now at the second attempt.
1.35 – Rathbone
2.10 – Concierge
2.45 – Gulliver
3.20 – Lexington Storm
3.55 – Ventura Bounty
4.30 – Steelriver
5.05 – Michele Strogoff
CHELMSFORD RACING TIPS
FANTASTIC FLYER (3/1, Paddy Power) is on a roll at present and the Harbour Watch mare can land the hat-trick here.
Dean Ivory’s charge has struck recent back-to-back wins over course and distance, latterly beating Mythical Spirit by three lengths readily to enhance her already solid course record and she could follow up despite being raised 8lbs in the weights.
Given the way she won last time which suggested she could still have more under the bonnet to give, she could defy this higher mark with her excellent course record a positive; while Sophie Ralston can claim a handy 5lbs which could prove crucial to her chances.
CARNIVAL ROSE (9/2, William Hill) produced a career-best effort to get back to winning ways at Lingfield back in January and the Harbour Watch mare could be worth chancing to follow up returning from a short break.
James Fanshawe’s charge struck by a head in that latest win, beating Shaffire although she was all out to do so. A 3lbs rise in the weights demands a shade more from her, but she could be capable of finding the requisite progress to defy this mark given she has run well from similar ratings in the past.
She probably wouldn’t need to find too much improvement to feature here and every chance she can make her presence felt.
It might be worth chancing on the fitness of WEEKENDER (6/4, Bet365) after a three months’ absence and John Gosden’s charge can get back on the scoresheet under Frankie Dettori.
The Frankel gelding was a Salisbury winner back in September last campaign, but he disappointed when last seen out at Kempton in December in the Listed Wild Flower Stakes where he beat only one home behind Pablo Escobar.
He’s better than that and returns here from a break back at a venue where he is 3-3 over this track albeit over shorter. He’s made the frame over this longer distance however, finishing a good third in the 2018 Henry II Stakes and he has gone well fresh so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see a big run on his reappearance.
5.25 – Come On Bear
5.55 – Fantastic Flyer
6.30 – Beautiful Illusion
7.00 – Carnival Rose
7.30 – Weekender
8.00 – The Game Is On
8.30 – Bad Attitude
