Horse Racing Tips on Saturday, February 12

There are six meetings spread across Britain and Ireland on Saturday, February 12th with the action coming from Newbury, Warwick, Naas, Uttoxeter, Lingfield and Wolverhampton. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Saturday Lucky 15.

The Brimming Water (1.50 Newbury)

This looks a fairly modest staying handicap hurdle. Last year’s winner Polish is back down to his winning mark of 130 and should go well, albeit recent performances haven’t exactly screamed imminent winner.

Risk And Roll is up 10lb for his latest win, and the other all arrive out of sorts, so it’s difficult to look past Sam Drinkwater’s THE BRIMMING WATER.

This son of Yeats showed a great attitude to score at Wetherby on Boxing Day, and the runner-up, Unexpected Party, has since franked that form at Ascot.

Although a beaten favourite stepped up to 3m at Haydock subsequently, The Brimming Water is now fitted with a first-time tongue tie, which could help him to see out this distance, and on the pick of his form there are surely races to be won with him off a mark of 127.

Hurricane Ali (1.58 Uttoxeter)

Uttoxeter’s Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle looks a perfect opportunity for HURRICANE ALI to get himself back in the winner’s enclosure.

John Mackie’s charge produced hurdles form figures of 4121123 in 2021, two of those victories coming at this venue and the third coming over this 2m4f distance.

He could only finish sixth at Doncaster last time but that was on return from a 143-day break so he is entitled to strip fitter here, whilst the return to Uttoxeter also looks an obvious plus. Hurricane Ali has been dropped 2lb since that Doncaster run, and 7lb claimer Alan Doyle now takes the ride, so in effect he is 9lb lower here and that significant drop looks enough to put him up as a selection.

Genuflex (2.40 Warwick)

Milton Harris has enjoyed an excellent season up to now and GENUFLEX can provide the Wiltshire handler with victory in this Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle.

This 4yo was a talented performer at up to 1m2f on the level for Richard Hannon yet he has improved since sent hurdling, chasing home subsequent Grade 1 winner Porticello in Listed company at Wetherby in October.

Genuflex was last seen finishing a 20/1 third at Huntingdon, and he now makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 115, which looks far from excessive.

The ground conditions should suit Genuflex and he has received wind surgery since last seen, which could eke out some improvement. Receiving a healthy weight-for-age allowance from the remainder of this field, he rates the one to beat.

The King Of May (3.15 Warwick)

Plenty in with chances here in what looks a wide-open handicap chase, but THE KING OF MAY catches the eye having bounced back to form in some fashion when scoring at Sedgefield last month.

This clearly represents a significant step up in class, yet The King Of May appeared to have plenty in hand and a subsequent 7lb rise still leaves him 1lb below a previous winning mark.

The King Of May has classy backform in handicap chases behind the likes of Zanza and First Flow, and whilst he has run well on a variety of ground conditions it’s notable that four of five career wins have been recorded on ground officially described as good to soft – conditions he is expected to face on Saturday.

Celebre D’Allen is a handicapper going places and warrants respect reverted to fences, albeit he has a little to prove on this quicker surface, so the main danger to the selection could come via the classy Cheddleton.
