Horse Racing Tips on Sunday, June 19

There are the three meetings spread across Britain on Sunday, June 19th with the action coming from Worcester, Hexham and Pontefract. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Sunday Lucky 15.

Do Ya Feel Lucky (2.35 Worcester) 12/1

David Pipe is enjoying an excellent start to the Jumps season, sitting only behind Fergal O’Brien in the Trainers Championship, and he aims to keep his run going with DO YA FEEL LUCKY in Worcester’s Neu-Servo Precision Spindle Repair Handicap Hurdle.

This mare was a winner for these connections at this track last August, holding on in a fast finish. She hasn’t managed to add to that in five subsequent starts, but she still looked in contention at Wincanton when last seen before a poor jump two-out put paid to her chances.

Subsequent wind surgery suggests that there may have been an underlying problem there, and a subsequent 3lb weights drop leaves Do Ya Feel Lucky now 5lb below her last winning mark. Back at Worcester for the first time since her win here last August, she looks well worth chancing.

Love Is Golden (4.15 Pontefract) 9/2

The 1m2f Sky Bet Sunday Series Handicap can go the way of LOVE IS GOLDEN, who is on a twelve-race losing run, but has come close to attesting to that in two of his last three starts.

Only beaten a half-length into second at Chester eight days ago, the front pair pulled clear of the remainder that day, so the pound rise received looks workable, and it was firmly the performance of a horse expected to be winning sooner rather than later.

Love Is Golden bombed out on his only previous start here at Pontefract, but that was likely due to the soft ground. Turning left-handed tracks appear to suit him best, and stall 2 gives rider Ben Curtis plenty of options here.

Byron Hill (5.15 Pontefract) 16/1

The stayers are in action here in what looks like a wide-open renewal of the Sky Bet Sunday Series Pontefract Cup Handicap, with the vote going to BYRON HILL for trainer Joe Tuite and jockey Rhys Clutterbuck.

This gelding passed through the sales ring at 45,000 guineas last October having won two of his 12 starts for previous trainer Charlie Fellowes.

The most recent of those successes came over 2m at Nottingham off the same mark that Byron Hill finds himself currently racing on, with the 2m distance looking the bare minimum for him that day.

Byron Hill didn’t achieve a great deal when beaten over 8l at Salisbury on seasonal/stable debut a little over three weeks ago, but that run came over 1m6f and this dour test is expected to suit far better, whilst he can also be expected to take a good step forward for that run (winner second time out last season).

Jockey Rhys Clutterbuck claims a valuable 3lb here, and in one of only two previous rides here at Pontefract he rode a 20/1 winner.

Cardano (5.45 Pontefract) 11/1

Not the most competitive 0-95 handicap in prospect here in the Sky Bet Sunday Series Middle-Distance Handicap, and this represents a significantly weaker assignment than the races that CARDANO is often seen contesting.

Ian Williams’ charge was back from a spell hurdling when well down the field at Goodwood last month, but his record has shown him able to bounce back quickly from a poor run, and it’s worth noting that his last two wins came on the all-weather at Lingfield, which is a sharp left-handed circuit that poses a similar test to Pontefract.

Cardano is now back down to his last winning handicap mark, and it’s interesting that David Egan, who has finished third and second in his only two previous rides aboard the gelding, is back aboard.
