Three Away from Royal Ascot on Thursday

Royal Ascot deservedly takes centre stage this week, but with such a plethora of action in store, here at Racing Tips, we’ve delved through the remaining cards on Thursday, June 16th identifying three notable runners. Check out who makes our list below.

Calcutta Dream (1.45 Ripon)

Jockey Serena Brotherton is often the first name to check in Female Amateur Riders contests and none more so in Ripon’s Betting.Bet Best Betting Sites Ladies’ Derby Handicap, a race she has won in a remarkable five of the last ten years.

Serena Brotherton is back in action in 2022 with market leader CALCUTTA DREAM, who she rides for last year’s winning training team of Michael & David Easterby.

This 4yo was back from a seven-month break when landing a 1m2f Newcastle handicap just over three weeks ago. He only really got going late on that day over the stiff Newcastle track, which would suggest that this 1m4f trip would be well within his reach stamina-wise.

It was encouraging to see the second that day, Iron Sheriff frank the form at Beverley earlier this week, and therefore the 5lb rise received is probably not going to prove insurmountable.

Serena Brotherton has farmed the Ripon Ladies' Derby in recent years and rides market leader Calcutta Dream in 2022.

Galileo Silver (8.10 Ffos Las)

Welsh Grand National-winning trainer Sam Thomas heads over to Ffos Las on Thursday with just the one runner in the form of GALILEO SILVER, who is also the sole representative on the card of leading owner Dai Walters, Honorary Chairman here at Ffos Las.

This 7yo bolted up at Huntingdon on Boxing Day, and although that victory came over fences, Galileo Silver has proven just as effective over the small obstacles of late, occupying the runner-up berth the last twice.

Galileo Silver has been pushed up 2lb for his latest showing, but he’s still completely unexposed over staying trips such as this and it’s interesting that the blinkers he’s been fitted with of late are now switched with cheekpieces.

My Mate Mozzie (8.20 Leopardstown)

Patrick Mullins is operating at a remarkable 52% strike rate (15 wins from 29 rides) with his Flat turf rides in Ireland in the last five seasons, and he aims to enhance that incredible record with MY MATE MOZZIE in Leopardstown’s concluding Bulmers Secret Orchard Live At Leopardstown (Q.R.) Maiden.

Gavin Cromwell’s charge is a 141-rated hurdler and has shown definite signs that he’ll win races on the level since switched to this sphere by connections.

A Killarney third over 1m6f was followed by a Tipperary second over an extended 1m4f, a trip probably a little short of My Mate Mozzie’s best, so stepping back up to 1m7f will suit. My Mate Mozzie was also attempting to concede 16lb there to a horse now rated 92, so it was far from a poor effort, and a repeat of the showing would be enough to land an average renewal of this race.
