THURSDAY RACING TIPS 23 SEPTEMBER – BEST UK RACING BETS AROUND THE COUNTRY
2:10 Newmarket – British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 6f
LOVELY BREEZE didn’t disgrace herself in Listed company at Pontefract when last seen out last month and while she failed to get seriously competitive there she could be worth chancing back in a more suitable grade.
Hugo Palmer’s charge had won two of her previous three starts, scoring at Newmarket and Goodwood either side of finishing runner-up behind Gellhorn back at the former venue where she had reopposing Gale Force Maya behind.
Her latest run saw her finish sixth of 12 runners where she was only a half-length behind recent Ayr scorer Dandalla and ahead of a subsequent dual-winner in Chocoya so her form looks solid coming into this race and with this representing a slightly easier assignment she can make her presence felt.
2:30 Perth – Remembering Tim Hardie Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl3 (4yo+) 2m4f
MINELLA TRUMP is thriving at present and Donald McCain’s charge can keep his hot streak going with another victory.
The Shantou gelding has won his last three starts – all here – over hurdles and fences latterly, showing three miles to be no issue latest when scoring by a half-length from Hewick earlier in the month and that form was boosted on Wednesday when that one struck at Listowel.
Along with the runner-up he pulled a long way clear of the third having made all the running and back down to this trip he is only 3lbs higher in the weights although this does look a stronger race. Nevertheless there could be more to come still from the seven-year old who is still relatively unexposed as a chaser and he can remain competitive.
3:20 Newmarket – Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 2m
This is easier than anything NAYEF ROAD has contested in the past two seasons and Mark Johnston’s tough stayer can get back to winning ways.
The 2020 Sagaro Stakes winner has locked horns with the likes of Stradivarius, Trueshan and Subjectivist in starts this term although he hasn’t quite managed to replicate the sort of form he had shown last term this time around.
However the Galileo entire did post a better run latest when finishing sixth lengths’ third behind Stradivarius in the recent Doncaster Cup, no match for the winner and a repeat of that effort could see him get back to winning ways here dropping into a Listed contest.
3:30 Pontefract – Atlas Leisure Homes Ltd Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 6f
OSO RAPIDO won at Musselburgh last month, beating Distinction by the thick end of two lengths and it might be worth chancing the Kodiac gelding to bounce back to winning form here.
Roger Fell’s charge hasn’t been disgraced in either of his subsequent runs at Thirsk and back at Musselburgh latest where he was beaten only a short-head by Newbolt and he can make his presence felt here if the drop to six furlongs doesn’t present an issue.
He has largely campaigned over seven furlongs in the past couple of seasons but he has placed over this shorter distance earlier in his career and he could go well over this shorter trip.
4:15 Perth – Welcome Back On-Course Bookmakers Jet Master Handicap Hurdle (Go North Two Mile Hurdle Series Qual’) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-120) 2m
UNIVERSAL FOLLY has yet to get his head in front but it might be worth chancing Nicky Richards’ charge to break his duck here.
The Universal gelding has proven himself a capable performer despite his winless record to date, twice finishing runner-up last term and having had wind surgery this tern he has posted two good performances since at this venue and Cartmel latest where he was only beaten a neck by First Quest.
He just failed to overhaul the winner on that occasion having finished strongly and the third has run well since in a better race so a 4lbs rise could be within his scope and can go well again here.
6:30 Wolverhampton – Cazoo Fillies’ Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 5f
COLOMBE got off the mark when making a successful seasonal return at Windsor in May and while George Boughey’s charge hasn’t won in either subsequent start the Mehmas filly has turned in good efforts in defeat.
She ran better than the bare form at Salisbury next time out despite beating only one home and duly left that performance behind when beaten less than one length latest when finishing third at Newmarket behind Liberty Bay.
Those runs came while in the care of Henry Candy but he’s since joined a very shrewd yard that is enjoying a fantastic first season and which might eke some improvement from her so racing off the same mark she could make her presence felt here.
