Thursday’s 22,159/1 Lucky 15 – Our UK Racing Best Bets On December 30
Horse Racing Tips on Thursday, December 30
There are three meetings spread across Britain on Thursday with the action coming from Taunton, Haydock and Wolverhampton. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the Thursday cards, which make up our advised Thursday Lucky 15.
Miss Harriett (12.15 Taunton)
Taunton’s opening Dorset And Somerset Air Ambulance Training Series Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle looks like a good opportunity for MISS HARRIETT to belatedly open her account over hurdles.
This 5yo made a promising reappearance at Exeter earlier this month when chasing home the Kim Bailey trained Voyburg. That came over a trip a little shy of her optimum, so going back up slightly here will suit, and the second start after a wind operation often proves a good time to catch horses.
Miss Harriett’s sole course run to date resulted in a neck defeat, which came off just 3lb lower than her current rating, and top conditional Cillin Leonard looks a fascinating booking here for connections.
Bobo Mac (2.05 Haydock)
Two near teenagers make the line-up in Haydock’s extended 3m4f Last Fling Handicap Chase but preference is instead for the 10yo BOBO MAC, who is often seen staying on when others have long cried enough.
His ardent stamina was once again on show when staying on into a distant second at Ludlow earlier this month. That run suggested that this marathon slog would suit, and although rider Adrian Heskin may be in action a long way out, Haydock is a track famous for horses coming from seemingly impossible positions to score.
Informateur (3.15 Haydock)
The Codrington Handicap Chase looks more open than the market suggests and at a healthy each-way price the vote goes to INFORMATEUR.
Sue Smith’s 8yo has form figures of 2241 here at Haydock, the victory coming in March off just 2lb below his current rating of 132.
Informateur has shown next to nothing in two starts so far this season but those runs came at Listed level and dropping back in class on these testing conditions will suit. Informateur sneaks into this 0-130 handicap despite his rating of 132 and he is a horse that carries weight well, with his previous handicap victories coming off 11st 11lb and 11st 13lb.
Only The Bold (3.30 Taunton)
Evan Williams and the Ruckers teamed up for success on the Welsh Grand National card earlier this week and they’ll be hoping to supplement this with ONLY THE BOLD in Taunton’s 3m Thatchers Cider Handicap Hurdle.
This son of Jeremy was picked up for an eye-watering £215,000 after landing an Irish Point to Point early in his career, where he saw off the challenge of the now 150-rated Tommy’s Oscar (useful Il Courra back in third there).
His six starts under rules to date have resulted in just the one victory, but he has run better than the bare result in both starts so far this campaign and stepping up to 3m for the first time looks capable of unlocking some improvement.
