Thursday’s 7,587/1 Lucky 15 – Our Strong E/W Fancies For 22nd September

Another six meetings go to post on Thursday, 22nd September, with the UK action coming from Newmarket, Pontefract, Perth, Southwell and Chelmsford, plus the Harvest Festival continues over in Listowel. Our lucky 15 includes a double on the Newmarket card, plus our pick for the feature at Listowel, as well as one we’re confident on at Pontefract.

Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Thursday Lucky 15.

*Odds correct at time of posting – 3:50pm Wednesday 21st September*

Crazy Luck (2.25 Newmarket) – 10/1

CRAZY LUCK has dropped to her lowest mark since winning at Chester back in July and she looks excellent value to run a big race here.

Following that win, she had a nightmare run at Goodwood, where her path was constantly blocked and she was eventually eased down to finish ninth. She followed that with a disappointing performance at Ascot, before a much improved showing at Salisbury earlier this month. She was only ¾  length behind Cuban Breeze and is now 8lb better off with that rival here.

Recent Yarmouth scorer Tarhib will likely be the biggest danger, but with trainer Rod Millman in fine form (3 winners from last 10 runners), we’re keen to side with Crazy Luck at a big price.

Lord Riddiford (4.03 Pontefract) – 4/1

The drop back to class 3 company could be exactly what is needed to get LORD RIDDIFORD back to winning ways.

He struggled in the Portland Handicap when drawn out of it (just one of the top ten was drawn higher than him), but before that he had Ayr Silver Cup winner Dusky Lord in behind when winning at Goodwood.

Jockey Jason Hart has been on board for five of his six career victories and is back on board here, and this doesn’t look the strongest of races. The biggest danger will likely be recent Thirsk winner Runninwild, but he has finished last on both his previous course visits, so we’re happy to take him on with Lord Riddiford.

Flying Dolphin (4.20 Listowel) – 4/1

Thursday’s feature race at Listowel can go the way of Johnny Murtagh with FLYING DOLPHIN. He made an encouraging return to action when finishing third in the Northfield Handicap during Irish Champions Weekend and should come on for that run. Jockey Shane Kelly dropped the whip in the final furlong so he arguably would’ve finished closer if he kept hold of the whip!

The step up in trip to 1m 4f shouldn’t be an issue as he did well on his sole attempt at this trip so far – finishing fifth in the King George V Stakes during Royal Ascot. He had a wall of horses in front of him when asked for his effort and ran on well when eventually in the clear, doing well to finish fifth considering how short of room he was in the run-in.

National Ballet could be the biggest danger after a close second over an extended trip at Bellewstown last time out, but we think this is a golden opportunity for Flying Dolphin to land a second career victory from just seven races.

Uzincso (4.45 Newmarket) – 14/1

UZINCSO was touched off by Ashky when they met here back in July, but John Butler’s gelding is 9lb better off with that rival here and he looks a cracking price in this.

He had won both previous races at Newmarket so we know he runs well here, and with Neil Callan booked to ride (who was on board for his last victory), everything points towards a big run from Uzincso. He had Red Kite three lengths back in fourth in the last of those victories and they meet again on the same terms here.

Yantari was an impressive winner here last month and will be the one to beat, but at the odds Uzincso looks to have an excellent chance and is our pick to take him on with.
