TODAY’S BEST RACING BETS – FLAT RACING TIPS FOR THURSDAY
2:50 Pontefract – Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m2f
LIBERATION POINT could be hard to beat here and the Iffraaj gelding can continue his progress to claim another victory.
Michael Appleby’s charge is progressing and made his first start for his new yard a winning one when going in at Ripon in August, beating Angel Amandea by one but likely to have more to offer now he goes handicapping.
He’s been given a very fair mark of 82 here and the longer trip ought to suit so every chance he can find another jolt of improvement to follow up his latest success.
3:00 Ayr – Luxury Breaks At Western House Hotel Handicap (Div I) Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 1m
EMPIRESTATEOFMIND arrives here on a hat-trick having struck recent wins at Musselburgh and Thirsk last month and John Quinn’s charge can keep his winning run going.
The application of blinkers seems to have been the key to the Starspangledbanner’s improvement over one mile where he twice finished in the frame in the headgear before posting those victories and he won readily latest under a penalty from Ron O.
He’s been pushed up 6lbs but there’s likely more still to come with the headgear retained and no surprise if he lands his three-timer.
3:15 Yarmouth – Follow @AtTheRaces On Twitter Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-100) 1m6f
PRINCE ALEX won five on the bounce for Ralph Beckett around this time last year from August to October and the Excelebration gelding wasted no time in getting off the mark for Michael Bell latest when scoring by a neck from Urban Artist at Goodwood in July.
He caught the eye that day with the way he travelled into the contest and he battled back well once headed in the last furlong to give the impression that a 4lbs rise for that win remains workable with further improvement possible for his new yard.
4:10 Ayr – British Stallion Studs Scottish Premier Series EBF Fillies’ Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1m2f
MY LITTLE QUEENS not for the first time failed to convince on the all-weather but back on turf here the Mastercraftsman filly can quickly post a better effort and Richard Fahey’s charge has won her last two outings on grass at Musselburgh and Hamilton.
The latest of those saw her run out a ready winner over Kornflake, but she wasn’t seen to best effect in her last run and remains capable of better going back up in trip having struck her two wins over one mile.
She’s only once tried this longer trip and finished fifth when last seen out but she’s worth another try back on this surface and she could progress.
6:30 Chelmsford – tote.co.uk Now Never Beaten By SP Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 6f
MAY SONIC can get back to winning ways here having struggled in a competitive York handicap when last seen out, but the return to an artificial surface should suit the Mayson gelding and he can do better.
Charlie Hills’ charge has won three times this year on polytrack which includes over course and distance two runs ago when getting the better of Stylish Performer by a head and that one has since gone on to win twice, while the third has also scored a subsequent win to boost the form.
He took in a much more competitive event on his last outing behind Copper Knight where he finished down the field and he should me more suited to this smaller field and return to polytrack so a big run wouldn’t come as a surprise.
