Tote Ten to Follow: 2021/22 Jumps Season

The Tote Ten to Follow has proven a resounding success since being brought back by its sponsors the Tote. The competition requires horse racing fans to select a stable of ten horses to go into battle with throughout the Flat/Jumps seasons. So, how does this stable put you in with a chance of winning the incredible six-figure Tote Ten to Follow 2021/22 Jumps season prize?

Creating your stable

The principle of the Tote Ten to Follow is a simple one, the competition requires players to form a stable of ten horses that will score them points throughout the 2021/22 Jumps season. Easy right? Well, with a selection of over 500 horses to choose from, the competition is anything but, and the points accumulated by stables has proven a real badge of honour and talking point for horse racing fans.

Scoring System

Once your stable is created and named, and your horses are selected, the points scoring will begin. Points accredited in the Tote Ten to Follow competition are produced depending upon four factors; where your selection places, the race grade, their Tote dividend and whether or not it is determined a Tote Bonus race.

Narrowing this down, horses from your Tote Ten to Follow stable will earn points should they win or place in a race throughout the 2021/22 Jumps season. Exactly how much they accredit will be determined by what grade of race they win/place in. The points system for this is as follows: Grade 1 (25 points), Grade 2 (20 points), Grade 3 (15 points) and Listed (12 points).

As well as this, the Tote Ten to Follow also assigns points based on the price of your selection. Returns for this are calculated by a £1 each-way bet on the Tote dividend. For example, a £1 win at 5.50 and £1 place at 1.20 awards 6.70 points.

This suggests that identifying horses in the Tote Ten to Follow competition who are likely to be seen contesting races at the highest level throughout the Jumps season will provide you with the best chance of building a healthy points tally – with their Tote dividend when winning also a notable factor.

Transfer Window

The transfer window may be synonymous with football, but it is also a crucial aspect of the Tote Ten to Follow competition. The 2021/22 Ten to Follow transfer window happens the week before the Cheltenham Festival, and provides stables with a crucial window to remove and replace horses before the big spring festivals begin. This time can be particularly pertinent for removing any horses in your stables that have endured injuries, and replacing them with horses that appear to hold strong claims in big races in the coming weeks.

Start date / Prizes

The competition opens for entries at 11am on Monday, 25th October 2021. All stables must be registered by 11am on Saturday, 13th November 2021. During that period changes to stables can be made freely. The Ten to Follow points scoring starts at 11.01am on Saturday, 13th November 2021 (Cheltenham’s Paddy Power Gold Cup day) and finishes at 7pm on Saturday, 9th April 2022 (Aintree’s Grand National Day).

There is a guaranteed £100,000 prize pool in the Tote Ten to Follow, with monthly prizes also being awarded. As such, it can pay to identify horses who will target specific festivals during this time period.
