TUESDAY BEST BETS AND TIPS – SELECTIONS AT WINCANTON, CATTERICK, NEWCASTLE & WOLVERHAMPTON
1:05 Wincanton – Like Racing TV On Facebook Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl3 (4yo+) 2m4f
COCONUT SPLASH can win what looks a pretty decent race on paper and the Stowaway gelding could have plenty more to offer over fences following an encouraging debut third at Chepstow last month.
Evan Williams’ charge was a point-to-point winner prior to joining this yard where he twice made the frame over hurdles, getting off the mark at the third attempt with a win at Wetherby where he beat Bean In Trouble by just over two lengths.
He showed up well switched to chasing last time back from ten months off and thrust straight into a handicap, beaten just over one length by Anemoi where a subsequent winner was behind him.
He’s sure to be sharper for that outing and he can compete here from an unchanged mark so it would be no surprise to see him building on that first effort where he can get off the mark in this sphere and with the longer trip expected to suit on ground that will hold no fears.

BALLADAME has shown improved form with every run since her attentions were switched to handicapping and Tom George’s charge might be able to get off the mark now.
The Ballingarry mare has placed in each of her last two starts latterly finding only one too good at Leicester last month where she was beaten just over four lengths behind Une De La Seniere. Although no match for the winner she was clear of the third and only 1lb higher in the weights she can remain competitive.
Also still relatively unexposed she has proven she can handle these conditions and every chance she can go close in a race where most of her rivals hold no secrets from the handicapper.
2:15 Newcastle – Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Nursery Handicap Cl6 (2yo 0-65) 6f
FIRCOMBE HALL has made the frame in his last three outings, two of which have come over course and distance including a career-best effort latest to open his win account under Hollie Doyle who takes the reins again on Phil Kirby’s charge.
The Charming Thought colt struck by a neck in that breakthrough success where he appeared to score a shade readily having been held up off the pace before being brought through to challenge into the last furlong and a 2lbs rise in the weights might underestimate her given she could improve again.
Phil Kirby has his team in decent order at present and likely to be in the mix once more he can follow up that success here.
2:25 Catterick – Millbry Hill Handicap Hurdle (Northern Lights Stayers Hurdle Series Qualifier) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 3m1½f
With chief rival and our original selection All Hail Caesar now out of the race AIRGEAD SUAS could prove hard to beat and while the Gold Well mare has plenty of weight to carry she can continue her good spell to land a hat-trick of wins.
Stuart Edmunds’ charge has showm progressive form this term, winning at Exxeter and here latterly last month where she ran out a one lengths’ winner over Gang Warfare, readily.
That form was boosted by the third – All Hail Caesar – winning next time and although the handicapper has pushed her up 7lbs for that success the rise in the weights is negated by her good rider’s 7lbs claim.
These conditions will be more testing given her two wins came on better ground; but if she handles the mud then this lightly-raced sort could continue to thrive and still unexposed over staying trips she could prove a tough nut to crack.
2:55 Catterick – Boscasports Retail tote Displays Worldwide Handicap Chase (Northern Lights 2m Chase Series Qual’) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-115) 1m7½f
OUT ON THE TEAR won twice last term over hurdles, scoring on heavy at Uttoxeter and then on less testing ground at Doncaster; the Arcadio gelding could be worth siding with on just his second chase start to open his win account over the larger obstacles.
Sam Allwood’s charge built on a promising seasonal return at Huntingdon in October to find only one too good at Chepstow latest in heavy conditions where he possibly bumped into one from the Dan Skelton yard.
Despite proving no match for that winner he was three lengths’ clear of the rest which included a next-time winner and from the same mark might be capable of going one better this time around with conditions no problem and the potential for more to come as a chaser.
5:10 Wolverhampton – Betway Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1m1½f
ATHMAD has been kept busy this term but he arrives here on top of his game having won three of his last four starts and Ruth Carr’s charge can strike again despite a further 4lbs rise in the weights.
The Olympic Glory gelding has struck twice over the extended mile at this venue prior to meeting with defeat when bidding for his hat-trick back here in November; but he quickly bounced back tried over this extra furlong when beating Sha La La La Lee by a half-length and he might have won by more had he not had to switch having met with trouble in running.
This will certainly demand another step forward, but given his current good spell of form and that of his stable then he looks worth sticking with to post another big run and it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see him in the mix again.
