TUESDAY HORSE RACING TIPS – BEST BETS ACROSS THE UK 3 AUGUST

1:35 Catterick – Gaspara Asset Management Handicap Cl4 (3yo 0-85) 7f

STREET KID might be worth chancing having ran well in defeat this term and Kevin Philippart De Foy’s charge can get back on the scoresheet with a first-time win for this yard.

The Street Boss gelding was a winner in Ireland for Jessica Harrington and has had four starts for his new yard where he’s made the frame in his last two starts, seeming stretched by the trip on the ground at Lingfield latest behind Be Prepared.

That form doesn’t look too shabby and this sharp seven furlongs could suit him given his sole win came over an extended six furlongs at Cork. He does have to give away weight however but he could be suited by the conditions of this race and he can make his presence felt.

2:00 Chelmsford – Example At CCR 14th August Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 1m

VENTURA VISION has a decent record at this venue with two wins and two efforts in the frame and Mark Johnston’s charge can get back on the scoresheet.

The latest of those victories came over seven furlongs here in June and the No Nay Never filly went close to a follow-up last month when finishing two lengths’ third to Spirited Guest. She didn’t appear at ease at Epsom latest but back on this surface and track she has to be respected given her record here and she’s fairly weighted on her best form off a mark of 67.

That rating is just 1lb higher than when winning here in November and the extra furlong could unlock more improvement so she might be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet.

2:10 Catterick – Richard Carr 60th Birthday Handicap Cl6 (3yo+ 0-60) 6f

SFUMATO won for this column when last seen in action and the Bated Breath gelding can follow up here.

Ollie Pears’ charge is a three-time course and distance winner and he bounced back from some lesser runs to register the third of those when last turned out 13 days ago, beating Gullane One readily under this rider and the pair can combine again.

He’s been pushed up 5lbs for that latest success but he’s won from higher in the past and with a strong pace likely again he ought to get the race run to suit and no surprise to see him in the mix again here.

3:35 Ffos Las – Carmarthenshire P2P @Ffos Las On 21st November Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 6f

GILT EDGE has won twice at this track in the past and Chris Mason’s charge may be able to resume winning ways and go in again here.

The Havana Gold mare is a dual-winner already this term with victories at Lingfield and Chepstow over six furlongs and she been running well in defeat the last twice where she finished fourth over this trip at Nottingham before being beaten just a half-length over an extended seven furlongs behind Siyata.

She finished ahead of reopposing Sweet Pursuit on that occasion and ought to confirm the form off the same terms dropping back to six furlongs which will suit her well and every chance she can go close again.

6:00 Lingfield – Free Tips On attheraces.com Handicap Cl6 (3yo 0-60) 6f

CABLE GUY is lightly raced but has shown enough to suggest he can pick up a small race and Charlie Fellowes’ charge can get off the mark here.

The Cable Bay gelding took his form up a notch when finishing four lengths’ fourth at Bath last month behind Holbache where he wasn’t quite able to go the gallop and he can do better back over this extra furlong.

Both the runner-up and third from that race have won since to give the form a boost and the application of cheekpieces for the first time could unlock further improvement in the three-year old who has been eased 2lbs by the assessor ahead of this latest run.

He remains capable of better and every chance he can make his presence felt.

6:20 Nottingham – Pete Williams Aka Henry Memorial Fillies’ Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 1m½f

FASHION FREE has been running better than her form figures might suggest and Michael Appleby’s charge can get back to winning ways here.

The Muhaarar filly hasn’t won since scoring at Newcastle last December and her form has been a little patchy; but she ran well in second here two starts ago when just touched off by Cliffcake before posting a very good fourth in a decent contest for the grade at Newmarket last month where she was only beaten a couple of lengths despite making a mess of the start.

She can race from the same mark here and the booking of William Buick for this assignment catches the eye so she could be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet here and end her losing run in a fairly moderate contest.

MR TYRRELL is in good form at present and enjoying a successful season with two wins from his last three starts which include at Sandown latest when beating Old News by a short-head under this rider, finding plenty for pressure despite looking awkward and hanging right.

That form took a boost when the runner-up went one better at Carlisle on Monday and Richard Hannon’s charge is only 3lbs higher in the weights for this latest outing which could underestimate his potential for improvement.

Returning to one mile for this latest assignment will be no issue and he’s a three-time winner over one mile; while he’s also placed twice at this venue so while he’s yet to win on the all-weather he should be capable of making his presence felt and every chance he can go in again.
