TUESDAY 24 NOVEMBER BEST BETS – DAILY HORSE RACING TIPS FOR SEDGEFIELD, SOUTHWELL, LINGFIELD & WOLVERHAMPTON
12:37 Southwell – Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap Chase Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 2m4½f
COBY NINE showed plenty of fair form over hurdles and David Bridgwater’s charge built on a promising chase debut at Wincanton last month to get off the mark at the second attempt when scoring a shade readily at Stratford earlier this month.
The Arcadio gelding jumped and travelled well throughout that contest and there’s likely better to come from him in this sphere despite having been raised 6lbs in the ratings for that success.
The longer trip appeared to suit him well and he remains with scope for better given his progressive hurdles form so looks worth chancing to follow up that last-time success here.
12:46 Sedgefield – Covered By MansionBet Faller Insurance Handicap Chase Cl5 (4yo+ 0-100) 2m½f
CYBALKO won for this column twelve days ago and the Balko gelding looks worth sticking with in the hope he can repeat the dose.
Sam Drake’s charge had caught the eye when finishing third over course and distance two runs ago and he confirmed that impression with a good win here latest where he appeared to appreciate the more positive ride, taking up the running mid-race and staying on well to win by four lengths.
The runner-up has franked that form with a subsequent win and while he has to back up that success from 7lbs higher he might well be able to follow up against some largely disappointing rivals back in distance.
12:55 Lingfield – Bombardier British-Hopped Amber Beer Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 7f
LITTLE BROWN TROUT has been knocking on the door of late, making the frame in his last three outings and William Stone’s charge looks worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet and end his losing run.
The Casamento gelding has a win and two in-the-frame efforts from four starts at this venue on turf and the all-weather, the latest of which came when last seen earlier in the month when beaten less than one length behind Newyorkstateofmind over six furlongs.
That was a more creditable run than it appears at face value as he was slowly away and then met with trouble in running where he couldn’t get a gap; but he should continue to remain competitive from this mark upped in trip and with Hollie Doyle taking over in the saddle he ought to make his presence felt again if the extra furlong doesn’t catch him out.
1:16 Sedgefield – Bet 10 Get 20 With MansionBet Handicap Chase (Northern Lights Staying Chase Series Qualifier) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 3m2½f
NORTONTHORPELEGEND has been in decent fettle of late without winning, but representing a yard that has been amongst the winners he might be worth chancing to get back on the winning trail.
The veteran Midnight Legend gelding has form at this venue, scoring here in his younger days and he struck twice during the 2019/20 campaign with successes at Cartmel and Ayr latterly last October.
He finished a good third here last time out earlier in the month, beaten around seven lengths behind Carrick Roads where he faded from the back of the last fence; but the runner-up has won since and eased 1lb in the handicap he can get competitive in what looks a very winnable contest.
1:25 Lingfield – Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Nursery Handicap (Div I) Cl6 (2yo 0-65) 6f
MILLIE’S ANGEL has shaped with promise on both starts to date, making the frame on each occasion at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton respectively; David O’Meara’s charge can get off the mark now at the third attempt.
The Dandy Man filly finished third on debut behind Hellow Me at the beginning of the month and stepped up on that run when last seen finding only Copinet too strong by four lengths, caught further back than ideal but running on well.
There was little caste lost in that run given the winner looked a potentially smart sort and switching now to handicapping she could improve and might have been let in lightly here from a mark of 65. Taking on more exposed rivals and likely to have better to come looks worth chancing to continue her progress and no surprise to see her going close.
2:07 Southwell – Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+) 2m
A dual-winner on the flat for John Gosden, WHITLOCK understandably needed his first run over hurdles when returning from two years off at Ludlow last month; the Dutch Art gelding could prove a different proposition now with that run under his belt and Nicky Henderson’s charge can post a much better effort.
While he’s not obviously bred as a hurdler he shaped well for some time in that reappearance before his fitness gave out and he faded; but he should come on for that and can do better this time around where he should be sharper and the experience of hurdling likely won’t be lost on him.
The form of that debut over hurdles took a boos with the third horse winning next time out and while there remains some reservations about his stamina given his flat breeding he can nonetheless give a good account for his top yard which has a decent record at this venue with its’ runners.
5:00 Wolverhampton – Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Nursery Handicap Cl4 (2yo 0-85) 6f
HIGHEST AMBITION hinted at better to come when finishing sixth on debut at Kempton last month and that impression was duly confirmed when Marco Botti’s charge got to within a short-head of victory over this course and distance earlier in the month when denied by Prince OF Abington.
The Siyouni colt was always prominent that day and he ran on well without quite able to match the winner with the front two clear of the rest. That was a decent effort given the winner boasted greater experience than the selection who still looked a little raw under pressure.
There’s likely better to come from him as he gains further experience and switching to the handicap ranks now from what could prove a very workable mark he can strike at the third attempt to open his win account.
6:30 Wolverhampton – Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m4f
Unbeaten Fair Star and DAHEER both arrive in search of a hat-trick and the more experienced latter-named runner might be worth chancing to come out on top.
The Speightstown gelding is 2-2 at this venue, rounding off his time with Owen Burrows when beating Image Of The Moon here in August and doubling up on his first outing for his new handler when beating Sha La La La Lee by just over one length latest.
He won a shade readily that day, keeping on well to score and there could be more to come from him as he goes up in trip for this latest outing where a 4lbs rise in the weights might not prove too much of a hindrance for Mark Loughnane’s charge who can improve.
