WEDNESDAY HORSE RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT HEREFORD, WETHERBY, KEMPTON & WOLVERHAMPTON
2:05 Wetherby – Sixt Car Hire Handicap Chase Cl3 (5yo+ 0-140) 1m7f
MARRACUDJA possibly went off too hard when last seen contesting the Castleford Chase over this course and distance but the Martaline gelding went well for a long way and the veteran can get back on the scoresheet.
A course and distance winner having won the 2019 Castleford Chase his form in the wake of that success was hit-or-miss although he did take in some tough tasks in defeat including the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival.
However he turns out here having had wind surgery and the handicapper has given him a chance easing him back onto his last winning mark. Stable jockey Harry Skelton also takes over in the saddle and with the yard continuing in decent form he could go close here easing into a Class Three contest.
2:50 Wolverhampton – Ladbrokes Watch Racing Online For Free Handicap Cl6 (3yo 0-55) 6f
THE PRETTY WAY has made the frame in all three starts on the all-weather following a break and David Evans’ charge can open her account here.
Beaten just over one length on her tapeta debut at this course in January she has since finished runner-up at Kempton and third at Lingfield latest where she was beaten two lengths behind Lucky Ava. That winner has gone in again since to give the form a boost.
Her earlier runner-up effort came over this longer trip and she was only beaten a head where she was run down close home and a return to this trip back on tapeta could see her off the mark now.
She can race from the same rating as last time and every chance she can make her presence felt here.
3:12 Wetherby – Racing TV HD On Sky 426 Handicap Chase (Northern Lights Staying Chase Series Qualifier ) Cl4 (5yo+ 0-120) 3m
Lightly-raced DESTINEE ROYALE struck at the first time of asking over fences when successful at Market Rasen last February and Venetia Williams’ charge can get back to winning ways here.
An early casualty at Sandown on her seasonal return to action she faced a stiff task in the Lady Protectress Mares’ Chase at Warwick when last seen where she finished fourth behind Annie Mc.
The Balko mare remains with plenty of potential to improve as a chaser and she ought to appreciate this easier grade back in a handicap having tackled Listed company last time. She has to prove stamina for this longer trip but she’s shaped as if she might benefit from a stiffer test and she can make her presence felt in this contest.
3:20 Wolverhampton – Betway Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-80) 6f
ALBUM turns out here chasing a hat-trick of wins and Stuart Williams’ charge can duly oblige by claiming his three-timer.
A heavy-ground winner at Windsor last October the Clodovil gelding has been in good form on the all-weather, twice finishing third in starts at Chelmsford prior to disappointing at Southwell next time although that surface possibly didn’t suit.
He’s since bounced back however to register a win over course and distance and back at Chelmsford latterly, beating Storm Melody by just over one length despite carrying a penalty.
A further 5lbs rise in the weights for that success last time leaves him with a little more to do in a deeper contest, but he gave the impression that there was more in the locker and having won a shade readily latest he could take some beating.
3:35 Hereford – bestbettingsites.com Handicap Chase Cl5 (5yo+ 0-100) 2m5f
ANNIE DAY has appeared to appreciate the switch to chasing having failed to cut much ice over hurdles for this yard and Christian Williams’ charge can improve again to get off the mark under Rules.
A point to point winner in Ireland she didn’t show much over the smaller obstacles but she has shown a good deal more over fences where she’s finished in the frame both times although she was well-beaten when last seen out behind Kapga De Lily at Chepstow.
That trip in the heavy ground possibly stretched her however and the Arcadio mare drops back to a trip that could prove more suitable. She could have further improvement to come over the larger obstacles and having been dropped 1lb in the weights ahead of this latest outing she could go well.
4:05 Hereford – bestbettingsites.com Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (4yo+ 0-130) 3m1½f
Despite carrying a big weight it might be worth giving another chance to CODED MESSAGE who was outclassed behind Roksana when last seen contesting the Warfield Hurdle at Ascot in January.
Ben Case’s Oscar mare struck her last success at Kempton back in December 2019 after which she tackled Graded and Listed company and she was possibly amiss when disappointing at Doncaster on her final start.
She’s had three spins over fences this campaign where she’s cut little ice; but she ran well in defeat back at Kempton over Christmas when beaten eight lengths by Molly Olly’s Wishes who has boosted the form since by winning a Listed contest.
Now in a Class Three contest returning to the handicap ranks she has the services of an excellent 7lbs claimer for this outing to help ease her burden at the weights and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her bouncing back with a better effort now her sights are lowered.
5:15 Kempton – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 6f
PREMIER POWER can get back to winning ways having not been seen to best effect beind Aberama Gold and reopposing Brian The Snail at Lingfield in December.
Roger Varian’s charge won his first two starts on the all-weather which included over course and distance and he was giving Brian The Snail 5lbs when beaten into second by a short-head behind that rival over this course and distance at the beginning of December.
He can reverse that form on 5lbs better terms this time around with the pair reopposing off level weights and the Siyouni gelding ought to go close here.
6:20 Kempton – Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap (London Mile Series Qualifier) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-85) 1m
THRILL SEEKER got off the mark at Wolverhampton in December and the Invincible Spirit gelding can get back to winning ways here having found only one too good in each of his last three outings.
William Haggas’ charge most recently was denied only by a short-head behind Accomplice over this trip at Lingfield earlier in the month and the application of blinkers now could unlock some further improvement.
A 3lbs rise for his latest near-miss could prove workable and it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see him in the mix again at the business end with the booking of Richard Kingscote catching the eye.
