Horse Racing Tips on Wednesday, July 13
There are the five meetings spread across Britain on Wednesday, July 13th with the action coming from Brighton, Catterick, Uttoxeter, Yarmouth and Lingfield. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Wednesday Lucky 15.
Castle Quarter (1.55 Uttoxeter) 13/8
Uttoxeter’s opening 2m conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle can go the way of CASTLE QUARTER.
This 6yo has been steadily progressive since sent hurdling for these connections, putting up his best performance to date when second (beaten a neck) on his handicap hurdle debut at Worcester last time out.
Castle Quarter travelled powerfully through that race and looked set to score before landing flat-footed after the final flight, and when gathered up, he only narrowly failed to run down leader Noahthirtytwored.
It’s safe to say that the best horse probably didn’t win that race, and although he’s up 4lb that weight rise is offset by rider Thomas Doggrell’s claim.
With the potential for improvement in this sphere (particularly in his hurdling technique), Castle Quarter looks good value to land Wednesday’s assignment.

Wednesday Lucky 15 Tips. Neil Mulholland can land the Uttoxeter opener with Castle Quarter.
Oso Rapido (4.05 Catterick) 6/1
The Download The Vickers.Bet App Handicap is run over a distance of 6f and although a field of only five has been attracted OSO RAPIDO strongly catches the eye for trainer Roger Fell and jockey Ben Curtis.
This son of Kodiac is now just a pound higher than when scoring at Newcastle in November, and he’ll be far better suited by this 6f trip than the 7f he contested at Thirsk last time.
Genuinely fast ground suits Oso Rapido well, as he showed when third (beaten less than a length) at Doncaster three starts back, and his versatility with tactics will be of benefit in this small field.
Paddy Husseys Taxi (5.13 Uttoxeter) 33/1
The H Brown & Son Recycling Novices’ Handicap Hurdle concludes the Uttoxeter Wednesday card, and sneaking in at the bottom of the weights, PADDY HUSSEYS TAXI looks the one to be with.
Neil Mulholland’s charge hasn’t managed to get his head in front in eight starts to date, but he had some eye-catching form to his name last season which includes creditable runs in defeat behind the likes of Aucunrisque (now rated 137) and Stage Star (now rated 140).
Paddy Husseys Taxi wasn’t disgraced when sixth under a front-running ride over this course and distance last time, and the first-time headgear combination applied there has been retained.
The strapping grey is 3lb lower here and has the assistance of Tom Scudamore in the saddle for the first time. There should be improvement to come from this 6yo and it has to be notable that connections are persevering with him.

Wednesday Lucky 15 Tips. Tom Scudamore can team up with Neil Mulholland to land the closer at Uttoxeter.
Gossamer Silk (8.20 Yarmouth) 8/1
Yarmouth hosts a competitive seven-race card on Wednesday evening, and in the Bazuka Handicap GOSSAMER SILK looks like a big player.
This 4yo daughter of Equiano hasn’t managed to get her head in front in seven starts to date, but she put up a career-best performance when a 22/1 runner-up at Wolverhampton eight days ago.
She runs off the same mark of 48 here, one that Gossamer Silk is surely capable of winning off, and Ray Dawson keeps the partnership intact.
Trainer Denis Quinn sent out a winner here at Yarmouth, just his second of the season, last week, and Gossamer Silk herself showed a liking for the track when sixth on penultimate start, a run worth upgrading as she only gave best late and didn’t appear to be suited by the ease in ground.
This faster surface is expected to suit better, so in what looks a modest enough affair the lightly-raced Gossamer Silk looks well worth chancing.
