Wednesday’s 9,636/1 Lucky 15 – Our UK Racing Best Bets On August 24

Horse Racing Tips on Wednesday, August 24

There are five meetings spread across Britain on Wednesday, August 24th with the action coming from Catterick, Lingfield, Musselburgh, Sedgefield and Kempton. Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Wednesday Lucky 15.

Nietzsche (1.30 Catterick) 11/2

Brian Ellison’s NIETZSCHE is better known as a hurdler/chaser nowadays, yet this 9yo has shown himself to still be capable switched to the level the last twice, backing up a Sandown fourth when occupying that same finishing position at Thirsk last time.

Nietzsche just found things happening a little too quickly over that 1m4f trip but he’ll be far happier back up to 1m6f for Catterick’s Fascination By Cherished Handicap and a 2lb weights drop now puts him on a mark of 62, 19lb below his last winning rating in this sphere.

Nietzsche has been contesting handicaps at 0-80 and 0-75 level recently, yet he now drops to 0-65 company and Catterick is a track where Nietzsche operates particularly well, with his record here under all codes currently 3-5.

Wednesday Lucky 15 Tips. Brian Ellison's Nietzsche can score at Catterick on Wednesday.

Circoloco (3.00 Catterick) 11/1

The Dave Watson Memorial Handicap is a chance for Rain Cap to bring up a hat-trick of course and distance wins, but at a bigger price, a chance instead is taken on CIRCOLOCO.

This daughter of Mehmas hasn’t managed to get her head in front in seven starts to date, but she wasn’t far behind the ill-fated Jadhlaan (92 OR) in a York novice on debut and has performed with credit in two of her last three starts, not having the race run to suit when coming from off the pace for fifth at Doncaster before finishing fourth after racing a little free at Redcar last time.

That latest run came over 7f and strongly suggests that Circoloco will appreciate this return to sprinting, whilst a pound drop now leaves her on a career-low mark of 59.

Michael Dods does well with his runners here at Catterick (+39.50 to level stakes in the last five seasons) and Circoloco remains open to improvement in blinkers (just her second start in the headgear).

Under The Twilight (3.10 Lingfield) 11/2

UNDER THE TWILIGHT was an eyecatcher at Kempton last time out and looks worth siding with in Lingfield’s Oliver Bass 29th Birthday Celebration Handicap on Wednesday.

Tom Ward’s charge had some smart form to her name as a 3yo and has taken a step forward at 4, posting a career-best RPR when landing a 7f Kempton handicap in June.

That form’s been franked since, and Under The Twilight looked unfortunate when attempting to follow up over a mile back at Kempton last time, trapped wide throughout from stall 12 and only really fading within the final furlong.

Under The Twilight should appreciate dropping back to 7f here and she’s got a much better draw in her favour in stall 2. Richard Kingscote takes over in the saddle today and a mark of 74 still has the potential to underestimate Under The Twilight.

Wednesday Lucky 15 Tips. Richard Kingscote can get amongst the winners at Lingfield on Wednesday with Under The Twilight.

Ramdon Rocks (3.40 Lingfield) 10/1

Ismail Mohammed’s RAMDON ROCKS is bred to be useful and has caught the eye more than once in his four-race career to date, staying on into fourth under extremely tender handling at Chelmsford and then probably going for home too soon back at that venue just over a fortnight ago.

Both of those efforts came in novice company, but Ramdon Rocks is expected to improve now tackling handicaps off a lowly opening mark of 59.

Returning to sprinting shouldn’t inconvenience Ramdon Rocks, given his dam was a 6f all-weather winner, and he appears to hold a greater scope for improvement than most in this lineup.
