3:45pm Chepstow Jason Aldridge Half Century Maiden Hurdle (Class 5) 2m4f
There’s little separating the leading trio in the market here, in what promises to be a fascinating maiden hurdle. Thunderstruck has a run, and a good run at that, over hurdles under his belt already and Golden Gift’s trainer, Paul Nicholls boasts and excellent record here at Chepstow. However, of the three, the one I want to side with today is STICK WITH BILL (NAP).
This five-year-old son of Oscar appeared twice during his bumper campaign, winning nicely at the first time of asking on heavy ground at Ffos Las. Harry Whittington’s charge was then a 33/1 outsider as he clashed with the highly-regarded King Roland on his second start at the Welsh venue, but Stick With Bill gave the favourite a real headache and was only passed by his rival in the closing stages.
Stick With Bill made the running on both of his starts on the level and I’m confident he will relish the step up beyond two miles. Ground conditions seem to be in his favour too and I’d be surprised if this hardy young novice didn’t open his account over hurdles on Wednesday afternoon.
