Disappointing in a bumper on heavy going; won 2m3f maiden here (good) on second start over hurdles and better form in defeat over 2m at Cheltenham twice since, fourth of 17 in a handicap last time; free-going sort who has jumped out to his right (notably on penultimate start) and it's easy to think that 2m at Huntingdon will suit him well.

11l win at Perth (2m4f, heavy; 7lb higher today) in September; ran creditably next time (3m) but not at Uttoxeter on latest when back over 2m4f on heavy; given the Perth win, he has to be considered.

Acts on soft, bit below form sole start on heavy; fine record at this track as a hurdler but career over fences at other tracks has not gone smoothly since he won his chase debut in October 2022; this longer trip is an interesting move and there's still time for this 7yo to click as a chaser, but there were jumping blemishes again when he reappeared at Ascot five weeks ago.

Returned from very long absence with good third at Market Rasen (2m, good) in September and won easily at Chepstow (2m, heavy) next time; fair fourth at Ascot (1m7f, soft) most recently and the time looks right for this step back up in trip; on the shortlist.

2lb out of the handicap and he's inconsistent; however, he returned to form with a good third of 16 at Cheltenham (3m1f, soft) three weeks ago and his trainer knows what it takes in this race, having won it a record six times; no surprise if this 7yo is in the mix on his Aintree debut.
