Form & Verdict
Won Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham (3m, soft) in December 2023 and, after failing to shine over fences, he reverted to hurdles in a handicap at Huntingdon (3m1f, soft) a fortnight ago and finished second in first-time cheekpieces; also effective on good to soft; the cheekpieces are left off and the drop back in trip isn't an obvious plus, but he's still respected.

C&D match last May (good, RPR 128) gave him his only chase win to date; habit of jumping right too great to ignore since, including when twice second in points lately, so a return to a clockwise track is timely.

Didn't reach the heights he once promised for Nicky Henderson but still fetched £43,000 at the sales and made a reasonable debut for this yard at Newton Abbot (3m2f, good; first-time cheekpieces) when behind Art Of Diplomacy; clearly needs to find something on that run.

Arguably didn't fulfil his potential for Nicky Henderson, having won a Grade 2 novice hurdle in 2023, and was sold for £43,000 after winning two-runner chase at Ludlow (3m, good) last month; remains on a workable mark for this stable debut, though, and might be aided by the new tongue-tie.

Form & Verdict
Promising novice hurdler in the 2022-23 season and he's well treated on last season's chase form; however, he's been below his best over fences on his last few starts and the return to hurdles and/or the first-time blinkers need to trigger a revival.

Won twice last season (2m1f/2m2f, good to soft) and he's dropped below his last winning mark; this 7yo represents Nicky Henderson and has plenty of time to get his career back on track but he's struggled this season, most recently back over hurdles in first-time blinkers; cheekpieces now go on.

The wheels have rather come off over fences, after last season had started so well, and he's now back over hurdles with first-time headgear applied; nothing wrong with his mark if he can get back on track.

Has patchy profile but he's well handicapped on his Taunton second (2m3f, good) in December and he may have needed his reappearance run at Hereford this month; this step back up in trip is no problem and he's one to keep an eye on for in-form yard.

Has become hard to predict, as his 16l fourth at Taunton (2m3f, good) in January would suggest, having failed to back up a decent effort there the previous month; back on his last winning mark and could play a leading role if at his best.

Has made a late return to hurdling this season and posted easy maiden and novice wins at 1-3 and 1-4 (1m7f/2m3f, good to soft/good); in a warm race for his handicap debut but has obvious potential off his opening mark in view of his very useful Flat ability; could play a leading role.

Won this prize in 2023 and had a fruitful Flat/hurdles campaign last winter before his close fourth in this; while he did not make an impact in either of his Flat runs this winter, latest hurdles form was his best in that sphere; 8lb lower than the 2025 renewal and a case can certainly be made.

His best hurdles run for Nicky Henderson came when second over C&D in December 2023 and, following a spell over fences, he returned to form with a fair third of seven over C&D 12 days ago with these cheekpieces added (good to soft; six of the ten hurdles were omitted); each-way chance.

Verdict

Talented Flat performer WISE EAGLE (nap) has posted easy wins in maiden and novice hurdles this season and could be on a good mark for his first handicap in this code. Shanagh Bob was a good second when back over hurdles at Huntingdon recently but this drop back in trip may not be in his favour and the chief threat could come from the well-treated Luttrell Lad, who could build on his encouraging fourth at Southwell.[Ben Hutton]
