Form & Verdict
Ballydoyle colt who opened his account in Navan maiden (1m2f) on seasonal debut; hit a flat spot on his way to good fifth in the Queen's Vase since, under 1l behind Furthur, and the form can be marked up (had a wide trip); now goes in headgear, which could well prove beneficial; respected.

Won four of his five races at three; improved with cheekpieces after Queen's Vase fifth, won a 1m5f Group 3 at Newmarket by almost 9l and mastering older stablemate Illinois in the Goodwood Cup (2m, good); dug deep to hold off Rahiebb on soft ground in the St Leger; readily coped with Dallas Star at Navan last month and now continues on the Kyprios route to the Gold Cup.

Won four of his five races at three, the exception when a close-up fifth behind Carmers in the 1m6f Queen's Vase; improved with cheekpieces, winning a five-runner 1m5f Group 3 at Newmarket by almost 9l and mastering older stablemate Illinois in the Goodwood Cup (2m, good); dug deep to hold off Rahieb on soft ground in the St Leger (Carmers fifth); top-class stayer.

Plenty went wrong for him racing wide in the 1m6f Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot but he rallied strongly for a close fifth, just behind three of today's rivals; much better with cheekpieces since, winning a five-runner Group 3 at Newmarket (1m5f) by nearly 9l and outgunning his older stablemate Illinois in their duel for the Goodwood Cup (2m, good); that makes him look the strongest stayer in this field and gives him almost the best form.

Finished third in the Lingfield trial, then was an outsider in the Derby but appeared to show further improvement in making late headway from the back to finish eighth of 18 runners; possibilities back down in class with this longer distance worth exploring.

100-1 for the Derby at Epsom but showed improvement in making late headway from the back to finish eighth of 18 runners; similar form later last summer in Group 3s at Newmarket and Newbury; gelded in March and some improvement is needed but he is lightly raced and may be capable of it.

100-1 for the Derby at Epsom (1m4f, good) but showed improvement in making late headway from the back to finish eighth of 18 runners; again stuck to his task well when creditable second of five to a very classy winner in Group 3 at Newmarket (1m5f, good to firm) and this lightly raced 3yo could still prove capable of better; considered.

Form & Verdict
Wore cheekpieces the last twice, winning a Thirsk handicap (1m4f) then appearing to improve markedly with staying-on sixth in the 1m6f Queen's Vase when upped further in trip; latter effort ties him in with a few of today's rivals; may have more to offer in the retained headgear.

Wore cheekpieces on last three outings, all on good to firm; won a 1m4f Thirsk handicap on first occasion and he's 23lb higher today thanks mostly to his staying-on sixth in the 1m6f Group 2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot; failed to confirm that improvement in 1m5f Newmarket Group 3 on latest start, admittedly not disgraced but that makes others look a bit more solid today.

Contested three handicaps this spring off marks in the high 70s, winning when upped to 1m4f in added cheekpieces last time (good to firm); while 1m6f looks plausible, it's hard to see him being anything like good enough.

Campaigned in Listed/Group races, with rather mixed results, since debut win; seemed to run well on bare figures in the Queen's Vase most recently but finished behind three of today's opponents and needs improvement to double his tally.

One of two for yard; highly tried to no avail on turf after 1m maiden debut win here in March; 100-rated 3yo returns to the AW for handicap debut and he is the choice of David Egan; hard to assess if he's well treated but has to be respected down in class.

Tried 1m4f at Leopardstown (good; unraced on firmer) 13 days ago, keeping on into fourth behind Friday's King Edward VII hope Zahrann; that was up with his best form but it was also the third time he's been safely held in a Listed race (after AW win on debut); others have more pressing claims.

Has progressive RPRs; made a successful reappearance then finished fifth in a Chester Vase that has worked out well; good second, with a few of today's opponents behind him, in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot (1m6f, good to firm) most recently; leading contender.

He hasn't kicked on since beating Epic Poet to win the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer at Newbury (1m5f, good to firm) last August and failed to threaten when fourth in the Yorkshire Cup at York three weeks ago; however, he could improve for that first outing since finishing mid-division in the Melbourne Cup (gelded between those starts); this 4yo remains one to be interested in.

Best form winning the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer at Newbury (1m5f, good to firm) last August in good style from Epic Poet; creditable sixth in the St Leger at Doncaster (14.5f) and not disgraced when mid-division for the 2m Melbourne Cup in November when last seen; gelded since; could resume his progress and that would bring him back into serious contention.

All this season's races have been on good or firmer; second in the 1m6f Group 2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, on the heels of Carmers; flopped behind Scandinavia at Newmarket three weeks later but resumed his improvement to win the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer at Newbury (13.2f) four weeks ago, coming from almost last to first in a steadily run, six-runner race to score by 3l; better still is required but that win was delivered in good style.
