Eight-race maiden who has been below par in two runs this year; her mark continues to fall and first-time cheekpieces go on but hard to fancy.

Seven-race maiden; perhaps unsuited by AW on reappearance but finished last of 11 and consequently brings a doubt over her current form; also lacks the potential of some other rivals.

Off the mark when up in trip on handicap debut here (9.5f) in March off 4lb lower; below that form back on turf twice since; needs the return to AW to revive his fortunes and he could do with an extra furlong.

Much improved after three months off (also gelded) when making a winning start in handicaps at Wolverhampton (9.5f) last month, quickening clear impressively off a steady pace; up 6lb but he remains one to be very interested in on his turf debut.

Consistent filly who has been placed on all five starts; ran her best race when third at Nottingham (8.5f, good to soft) in May; dons first-time blinkers and must be feared if they bring about any improvement.

Promising third at Bath (1m, soft) last October on second start and runner-up in Newcastle nursery (7f, AW) next time; she hasn't shone on her two runs this spring (1m/1m2f, good/good to firm) but the drop back in trip and return to slower ground may help.

Has found his feet in Kempton AW handicaps at 1m on last two starts, just worn down (by one who would have been an unlucky loser) last November, then found a bright turn of foot to win on comeback; up just 4lb but he has a different question to answer this time, returned to turf with rain about.

Showed improvement when switched to handicaps in the autumn, finishing runner up at Bath (1m, soft) before going down by a head over this C&D; up 4lb on this return from six months off, but a few winners have come out of that race; respected.

Verdict

An open-looking contest with several possibilities. Preference is for SUGGY to resume winning ways after possibly finding soft ground at Newbury against him last time. He is chosen ahead of Safe Harbor who continues to find one too good in pursuit of her first win. Another to consider is Karakula Dancer who scored here in April and has ran with credit since. It will be interesting to see if the return to this track can bring about a return to form for Espanita, while blinkers may do the trick for Stella Lucente. [Andrew Bladen]
