Unfortunate not to go closer when second at Ffos Las (7.5f, good) off this mark in June but he hung for pressure when posting a lesser effort at Sandown four weeks ago; tongue-tie and cheekpieces might help and he had 7f AW form in novices; could bounce back. |

Promise on both 2yo starts (7f, AW) and, following wind surgery, he kept on for a close second on last month's handicap debut at Ffos Las (7.3f, good) where he had to wait for a clear run; open to further improvement back up to 1m and this 3yo is on the shortlist. |

Hosed up at Newcastle (1m, AW) last November off 8lb lower; best run since when third back there (7f) in June; has possibilities if he can translate that form to turf on which he is yet to be placed from six starts. |

Comfortable winner here (1m, Class 6; 6-4 favourite, from 7lb lower) last November; less productive on Nottingham comeback run; fifth of 14 at Bath (1m, good) 12 days ago was better, and he's noted over 7f at a track which suits; Harry Vigors takes off a handy 5lb. |

Has progressed with each run and she was keeping on when close up over 7f at Southwell (AW); this trip should suit on handicap debut and one to bear in mind. |

Tailed off last July on sole 2yo start; took a step forward when fifth of 14 on her comeback at Kempton in May (7f, Polytrack; Cixi third) and looks to have a future, but this Sea The Moon filly may be of greater interest when tackling longer distances. |

Eight-race maiden; seemed to respond well to first-time visor when third of six at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm) last month and should be fine over this extra furlong; now tries cheekpieces; enters calculations. |

Promise for Adrian Keatley over the winter but he was expensive to follow for that yard; disappointing in three turf handicaps (6f/5f) for James Owen this season and he needs a transformation with visor now tried. |

Nine-race maiden; ran respectably in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) most recently; possibilities off a reduced mark dropped in class with the headgear retained; sole runner on the card for his Newmarket yard. |

Close second twice on good to firm turf last month before winning in first-time cheekpieces on Tapeta (also 7f) 11 days ago; 5lb higher here but commands respect in current form; usual tongue-tie (left off last time) is refitted. |

Verdict
The return to the AW should suit Bird Of War (second choice) and he may be able to put a lesser effort at Ffos Las behind him, but VIKING GLORY got off the mark at Brighton last time and still looks fairly treated off this 5lb higher mark. Musical Soldier also has to be respected in his bid for the hat-trick. [Harry March]
