Runner-up to Jonbon on first two starts this season and bolted up in Grade 2 Game Spirit at Newbury in February; running well in second when falling two out in Champion Chase last month; needs El Fabiolo and Jonbon to underperform but a good case can be made for him being best of the rest; won Grade 1 Tingle Creek over C&D (good to soft) in 2022; versatile ground-wise.

Has won on good ground, raced mostly on softer; brings a couple of negative points, having disappointed in this race 12 months ago and been beaten twice by Jonbon this term; however, he's high class on his day, having won the Arkle (over C&D) and Tingle Creek in 2022, and relished the belated switch to front-running in the Game Spirit at Newbury (Grade 2; unchallenged) last month when jumping well and remaining clear from a long way out; relatively unexposed under such tactics and may prove hard to peg back granted a similar ride.

Failed to settle and soundly beaten when back up to 2m4f in Kempton Grade 2 last month; this two-time Grade 1 winner was previously a good second to Jonbon in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek at Sandown (1m7f, heavy) and holds leading claims if producing a performance of that ilk.

High-class 2m chaser on his day, winner of the Arkle and Tingle Creek in 2022; has played second fiddle to Jonbon in both starts this season and now turns his attention away from the Champion Chase route to a possible Ryanair tilt, with the rethink on distance a logical move at this point; ran well over hurdles on sole 2m4f attempt; withdrawn twice due to good ground, raced mainly on softer; top on peak form.
