Grade 2-winning chaser who ran well to be eighth in the 2024 Grand National; last season ended disappointingly (latterly in the Midlands National when tongue-tie joined regular cheekpieces) but she was second in the 2m4f Listed race on this card before respectable efforts in the Coral Gold Cup and Welsh National (won by Val Dancer); stays this far and the handicapper has given her a chance; interesting. |

Won a mares' novice hurdle and a mares' novice handicap chase for Emma Lavelle back in 2022; creditable third in a mares' handicap hurdle on stable debut in October (2m3f, good) but well beaten over fences last time. |

Ex-Emma Lavelle; doesn't have the best of win records; creditable run when third in a Bangor mares' handicap hurdle on reappearance (2m3f, good; stable debut); each-way chance on this return to chasing. |

Useful chaser for Emma Lavelle; didn't fire on either outing last autumn, latterly when back over hurdles, and makes stable debut after 338-day absence but has slipped to a dangerous mark and the booking of Sean Bowen catches the eye. |

Two-time hurdle winner (heavy/good to soft) who was a close second over fences here (3m, heavy) last February and is a major player on that form; however, she's hasn't been at the same level on either start this season. |

Dual hurdle winner who seemed to get the hang of chasing at the third attempt, going close in mares' race at Warwick (3m, heavy) in February; returns from ten-month absence in a stronger contest but the drop back in trip won't be a problem. |

Ran in the Grand National 11 days ago, badly hampered at the second fence and falling at the third; won two high-profile handicaps last November before Listed win at Newbury and the drop back to 2m4f didn't appear ideal at the Cheltenham Festival; leading claims if none the worse for last time. |

10yo who is better than ever this term, including with a big handicap double in November in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham (2m4f, soft) and Coral Gold Cup at Newbury (3m2f, good to soft); dropping back to 2m4f, however, was probably not ideal when creditable third in mares' race at Cheltenham last month; 8lb higher than in the Newbury race but her dominance that day is hard to forget. |

10yo who has been better than ever this term, completing a notable handicap double in November in the Paddy Power Gold Cup (2m4f, soft; here) and the Coral Gold Cup (3m2f, good to soft) before easily completing a hat-trick in a Listed mares' chase (2m7f, good to soft); the drop back in trip isn't an obvious plus but rain would aid her cause and she's entitled to respect. |

Due to take up broodmare duties soon; has won on heavy, raced mainly on good/good to soft; scored readily over C&D on most recent chase start, taking record in Kempton handicaps to 2-2, and remains unexposed at 3m; interesting back here. |

One of three runners for Nicky Henderson; Christmas success at Kempton (3m) took her chase record to 3-7; has a fighting chance at the weights, provided that form is transferred back to hurdles. |

Verdict
A fascinating event involving five recent chase winners but the one that stands out on form is GALIA DES LITEAUX, who made an impressive start over fences with her emphatic win in a mares’ Listed event at Bangor. Last month’s Fontwell scorer Kissesforkatie is respected along with Eureka Creek, but the main threat could come from the Nicky Henderson-trained Tweed Skirt, who kicked off her chase career with a 32l win in a Kempton handicap.[David Moon]
