Dual chase winner (2m4f/3m) on heavy ground last winter but she lost her way in final two runs last season and was pulled up on her return in December; now 3lb lower than for last win but she needs to turn things around in first-time cheekpieces. |

Dual chase winner on heavy ground in this month last year (2m4f/3m); had gone right off the boil by the end of last season but resumes on a workable mark and may have been refreshed by her break. |

C&D winner whose last win came at Ffos Las in January 2023; lightly raced since, one of her best runs when second in a mares' handicap at Huntingdon last time (2m7f, soft); stable in better form now; good chance. |

Dual soft-ground winner either side of Christmas 2022-23 (3m1f, 3m2f); limited form in just three starts in the past three years, though might just have gone closer but for losing a shoe latest. |

Remote second behind Glorious Lady on seasonal/chase debut in October but displayed improvement to gain her own wide-margin success at Lingfield (2m4f, soft) last month; should be fine over today's longer trip and has plenty of scope for further progress. |

Placed twice over 2m7f at Chepstow (good to soft) in the autumn and put a poor run behind her when third there (2m, soft) in January, but has disappointed again since and some of the younger ones appeal more. |

Placed twice over 2m7f at Chepstow (good to soft) in the autumn and put a poor run behind her when third there (2m, soft) last month; today's trip on a right-handed track also suits; probably won't be far away. |

Gained all three wins on heavy ground at Ffos Las (2m-2m6f); safely held in cheekpieces and then a visor on her last two hurdling starts (2m4f/2m); tries a new trip and sports first-time blinkers on this return to chasing; too well handicapped to rule out but needs to turn a corner. |

Difficult to quantify her form in two points this winter; debatable whether she retains peak ability aged 12 but the return to Exeter is a plus, being 2-3 over C&D; those two wins came off higher marks in March 2022. |

Latest three efforts have been a return to some form but this thorough stayer has always looked best at Exeter on genuinely soft ground; could be in the shake-up if conditions don't dry too much. |

Last season's form was much better; third over 3m at Exeter (scene of her only two wins under rules) one month ago and not disgraced at Fontwell nine days later; considered each-way. |

26th Mar 2023 Good To Soft 3m 0f 54y Class 5 |
10st 8lb |
Irish point winner; modest hurdler and limitations already looking exposed as a chaser, for all that she ran better in the cheekpieces at Lingfield (2m7f, good); perhaps vulnerable once more. |

Irish point winner but she's yet to finish placed under rules and has struggled switched to fences (tailed off/pulled up) in her last two runs; dropped another 5lb but has plenty to prove with cheekpieces now tried. |

Verdict
It hasn’t taken long for Venetia Williams to find significant improvement in FLOWING CADENZA, and the 8lb rise for her demolition job in the series final at Hereford last month pales next to the big personal-best RPR she recorded there. Back down in class in this qualifier for next season’s final, and against some mostly fallible rivals, she appears unopposable. A return to nearer 3m and a further 2lb off may help Wind Tor run her closest.[Jeremy Grayson]
