Seven-time winner including Listed and Group 3 races here over 1m on good ground; not a bad effort in first handicap start since 2023 at the Curragh last time (denied a clear run) and eased 1lb for that; goes well here and firmly enters calculations upped in trip. |

Ground versatile; seven-time winner (including at Group 3 and Listed level); running respectably in stakes company this term and is 2-2 in handicaps, though hasn't run in one since winning off 1lb higher at Naas in 2023; course winner interesting with rider taking off 5lb. |

Confirmed his liking for this venue when winning a Listed race here last season (Mutasarref a neck behind), his second C&D win; improving for each outing this season and should run his race but a rating of 99 leaves him with a fair amount to find with a few of these rivals. |

in touch with leaders, pushed along when bit short of room and switched left 2f out, soon headway up the centre, ridden and ran on inside final furlong, went second but no chance with winner towards finish |

27th Jun 2026 Good To Firm 1m 2f 56y Class 4 |
10st 13lb |
Five-time winner on a handy mark but it's been a quiet start to this season and, even if back on song, looks vulnerable to stronger stayers over this far; the return of a visor might be no bad thing. |

12th Jun 2026 Good 0m 7f 1y Class 4 |
11st 1lb |
C&D scorer who made a promising return from a poor draw when seventh of 22 in 7f York handicap four weeks ago; figures on a handy-looking mark now and he's interesting. |

9st 9lb |
Ended winless 2025 campaign with a placed effort in an above-average seller; starts his 2026 season off 8lb below his last winning mark but chance partly depends on the weather as he's best on ground softer than good. |

14th Sep 2023 Standard 0m 7f 0y Class 6 |
9st 9lb |
Off the mark in a 5.5f Bath handicap in June (firm) during a short tenure with Mick Appleby, and almost cashed in his lower mark on synthetics at Kempton latest (6f; stable debut), but mixed messages previously as to whether he truly stays 7f; jockey rode first double on Monday night. |

30th Aug 2023 Standard To Slow 0m 6f 0y Class 6 |
9st 8lb |
Ex-Irish 3yo who won one of his three runs for Mick Appleby, a fast-ground Bath handicap over their extended 5f; best form is on turf but a lower AW rating heightens interest on stable debut (bought for 10,000gns). |

4th Jul 2023 Good 0m 6f 210y Class 6 |
10st 1lb |
Off the mark at the 12th attempt (second for this yard) when keeping on well to win a 5.5f handicap at Bath last week; has form over this longer trip but he'll need further progress if he's to defy a 6lb penalty. |

Verdict
An interesting little contest featuring three previous winners. SHADOWED has the advantage of race-fitness and the form of his Curragh maiden win has been boosted by the runner-up in winning readily at Cork. Lord Massusus has slightly stronger credentials than Spirit Genie but has to give him 3lb. [Alan Sweetman]
