Had interesting times over fences, a wide-margin winner on one occasion from five attempts but pulled up three times and finished remote on the other; dropped right out on return to hurdles in November but she did run well in this race in 2020 before winning it the following year and is lower in the weights than for either of those runs; cannot ignore. |

Progressive 2212 record in handicap hurdles; scored in gritty fashion at Ascot (nearly 3m1f) in November and put up another most tenacious performance when beaten a head, having made most, over an extended 2m7f there (again on good; probably acts on soft) one month later; up another 5lb but surely won't go down without a fight. |

Verdict
Most of these have something to prove but not SCAMALLACH LIATH, who not only comes here in form but appeals as a likely improver over this far. It’s questionable what Skandiburg achieved last time at Newbury but he could be the threat.[Alistair Jones]
