Form & Verdict
Wide-margin Irish point winner in spring 2022 and shaped with significant promise in two 2m maiden hurdles last season; pulled up when upped to staying trips for two handicap hurdles in the spring and now has questions to answer but could still have a good future over fences; cheekpieces removed after one use; tongue-tie added.

Won a five-runner handicap at Newcastle in October (2m4f, good) but had been pulled up on previous start and was pulled up on only start since (good to soft); this ground should suit better but he's not easy to work out.

Won three times over fences for Matt Sheppard; yet to score for present yard, but two fair runs when in the frame at Sedgefield in September (2m/2m3f, good); never travelling when pulled up on same track last time (3m5f); a possible.

Three-time chase winner (once here) but looked out of sorts during four-race campaign last season and returned with two lacklustre efforts in the autumn; usual tongue-tie/blinkers left off today; revival needed.

Came clear to win a 3m1f soft-ground chase at Warwick in January (2lb lower; first-time cheekpieces) but it's all gone pear shaped in the meantime; perhaps another change of headgear will work the oracle but it's not hard to have doubts.

Failed to complete last two races and her tendency to clout the occasional fence remains a worry but she looked good when winning in first-time cheekpieces at Warwick (3m1f, soft) in January and is probably still on a workable mark.

0-5 over fences and 0-11 overall; rallied well on run-in and lost out only by a short head at Lingfield (2m7f, soft) last month but that was a rather odd race and it's probably wise to treat the form with a degree of caution.

Stayed on dourly to win two-finisher contest over C&D (soft) in April but it might be wise to treat that form with a degree of caution and an 8lb rise asks a lot of him on this first start for seven months.

10/1

Verdict

This might go to lightly raced 5yo CAERULEUM, who made an encouraging handicap hurdle debut over 2m4f here last month and could have considerable untapped potential as a staying chaser. Head And Heart did not fire last month, after a break, but is a big player if judged on her Huntingdon win in April. Irish point winner Moodofthemoment was pulled up in both his handicap hurdles but can’t be written off just yet.[Chris Wilson]
